I’m seeing the same. It was brutal during the day as well. It took me nearly an hour to make some sequences. I should have made them locally and uploaded.

Hi Rick,

If you are looking for the solution for flats but not necessarily as a cover, I think the software called Voyager is worth checking into. It’s an automation solution package and one feature is to automate the skyflat acquisition during damn/dusk. It auto slews, auto calculate/adjust the exposure duration, and auto dither. I’ve been using this for almost a year. No need an external device makes it easy.

It does more than flat management of course.

Hi All,

I'm on pier 6 in the 1 meter building and I need a better flats panel for my AGO 12.5.

I notice in the building there are 2 setups with scope at least the size of mine that have flats panels that would work for me.

One is an AGO on a 10 micron and the other is a Planewave on a 10 micron.

If you guys are on here, can you tell me about your flats panels. Are they DIY or pre-fab'd? 12v? Ascom compatible? Can you control the intensity?

Thanks guys,

Rick Darden

I use the Aurora from Gerd Neumann at home. Not adjustable but he has ND add on filters.

I was able to connect and except for a couple of glitches where everything froze, it was not that slow. I got my imaging run going and as far as I know everything is okay.

Rick,

I have a 12” RC (Astro-Tech AT12RCT). Andy Galasso who was in our building also had the same AGO 12.5 scope as you. Both of us use the Spike-A-Flat large panel. They have an add-on USB controller that allows for changing the intensity. I use the stand-alone app and have presets so that all my flats are about the same length of exposure. For example, intensity 10 for 1x1 luminance but 900 for 1x1 Ha. Andy did write an Alnitak emulator and ASCOM driver so they will work with SGP and other programs.

Not the cheapest or most expensive but they work well.

Dan,

I am ignorant of IT.

But the term “packet loss” perfectly describes what I was experiencing.

Thanks!

To: DarkSkyNewMexico@groups.io
Subject: Re: [DarkSkyNewMexico] DSNM Internet Slow?

Just an update on this. I passed this on to Al who can call VTC.

On a whim, I checked now 3:53 PM MST and the link is losing packets:

--- 206.128.69.19 ping statistics ---
100 packets transmitted, 87 received, 13% packet loss, time 99081ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 70.896/92.392/123.665/13.717 ms

Also losing them on the non-static side:

--- 206.128.69.5 ping statistics ---
100 packets transmitted, 94 received, 6% packet loss, time 99182ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 69.380/71.324/77.810/1.075 ms

not as bad as the other but any loss is not good.

206.128.69.121 appears to be the device DSNM connects to just upstream:

--- 206.128.69.121 ping statistics ---
100 packets transmitted, 92 received, 8% packet loss, time 99167ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 66.563/74.172/172.475/16.039 ms

Losing packets there somewhat tells us that the issue is with VTC equipment not on the DSNM site but it directly impacts DSNM. This is a guess because I’m not certain 121 is not on site.

206.169.46.5 appears to be the device right before 206.128.69.121 above:

--- 206.169.46.5 ping statistics ---
100 packets transmitted, 100 received, 0% packet loss, time 99014ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 57.351/60.976/109.555/10.113 ms

NO PACKET LOSS.

Issue is between or with 206.169.46.5 and 206.128.69.121.

This doesn't appear to be an issue with bandwidth although this is just a guess.
