Excellent image, Bernard. Great detail.
This is an image of NGC 1291. It is a ring galaxy with a unique inner bar structure and an outer ring structure. It is believed that ring galaxies form when a smaller galaxy passes through the center of a larger galaxy. It is located about 33 million light years away in the constellation Eridanus.
