NGC 1156 (UGC 2455, PGC 11329, VV 531 and others) is a dwarf irregular galaxy located approximately 24.8 million light-years away ( in Aries.


Simbad notes that reflection nebula DG 11 is located just below and to the right of NGC 1156. I suspect this is part of the IFN located throughout Aries.


Asteroid 15703 Yrjola (mag 16.9 can be seen just below a bright star near the bottom center.


Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1

RGB – 11:8:12x300s – 55:40:60 minutes each – binned 2x2


395 minutes total exposure – 6 hours 35 minutes


Imaged September 18th, 20th, 21st, 23rd and 24th, 2020 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
