Hi all:

Comet c2019 Y4 Atlas has brightened unexpectedly over the past few weeks and is now around magnitude 8.5 on the border between Ursa Major and
Camelopardalis:

LRGB, 40 minutes total exposure.

The comet was discovered on December 28 by the ATLAS program (https://www.space.com/41167-asteroid-warning-telescope-atlas-passes-test.html).
The comet may continue to brighten as it approaches the sun in May. It is expected to pass about 23 million miles from the sun so there is some concern that it may not survive.
