New rig setup

I have been running an Icom IC-746Pro which went belly-up earlier today. So I ordered a Yaesu FT-710AESS from HRO a couple of hours ago.  I have been a DXLab Suite user for almost 20 years with over 6K QSOs in the log, which is automatically backed up to Dropbox when I shut down.  I had DXLab and WSJT-x integrated.  What would be the best approach to configuring DXLab for the new rig?  Should I wipe the PC and start fresh or is there a step-by-step guide to follow to set up everything for the new rig without starting from scratch?

+ Absolutely not!!!

+ All you need do is configure Commander to communicate with your FT-710. The table in

https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/ConnectingYaesu

+ does not have an entry for the FT-710, as it's a new radio, and I don't yet know what cable is required. Step-by-step configuration instructions are here:

+ Mark N5EIH has his FT-710 controlled by Commander and working with WSJT-X; perhaps he can give you a hand.

You can easily reconfigure DXLab Commander to accommodate your new rig and just keep going.

FTdx10 and FTdx710 reportedly have identical command sets. I have
not yet compared their CAT references line for line (command for
command) to confirm that but I would start with the FT-10 option
for a new FTdx710.

If the software in question lacks an option for FTdx10, I would
try an FTdx101 option if present.

+ Commander's Radio Model selector offers an FT710 option; it's functionality has been confirmed by at least one FT710 owner.

Coming from an icom you want to be sure that you get the yaesu drivers from their website installed before it ever sees the new radio.

There are lots of instructions for WSJT-X on setting up the FTdx10 to give you an idea on installing the drivers. It's pretty straightforward.

We as ham operators have so much invested in our software setups I would dread having to reinstall everything from scratch. Enjoy your new radio

Bedford,  The drivers are the same because they have the Silicon Labs com port IC.
At least they are common to both Icom and Yaesu.
In fact this the direct SL driver download page,
