FT8

Actually I should say FT8 not wanted.
The dx cluster display in DXLAB rather annoyingly shows FT8 spots as CW. I go to the frequency shown and only hear FT8. So how do I make the cluster recognise FT8 and not report it as CW. I have been licenced many years (since 1962) and have 331 DXCC . I have not used HF for sometime and with sun spots increasing and lots of DXexpeditions appearing I though it was time to get back on HF. I don't ise FT8 and mainly CW for HF. Neil G3RIR |

In Config -> General -> Sub-band Definition make sure the file specified is BandModes 2022-12-06.txt That file has significantly finer mode granularity and properly defines frequencies for FT4, FT8, etc. 73, ... Joe, W4TV On 2/26/2023 12:19 PM, Neil, G3RIR via groups.io wrote:

The dx cluster display in DXLAB rather annoyingly shows FT8 spots as CW. + As explained in + the root cause of your annoyance is that DX spots do not convey a mode unless the user takes the time to specify a mode in spot notes. SpotCollector detects mode indications in spot notes, but less than 25% of all spots include them. As Joe W4TV has pointed out, SpotCollector uses a sub-band definition file to determine a spots's like mode as a function of its frequency. An update-to-date sub-band definition file is included with SpotCollector; if desired, you can configure it to your taste. + See https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/SubbandDefinitions + SpotCollector is unlike any other application in amateur radio, and delivers great value to DXers; to understand how it works, I suggest that you review https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/CollectingSpots 73,

Thanks for all the replies I have now upgraded spot collector with the specified file.
I suppose I might have to succumb to using FT8 but CW is still my favorite. Neil G3RIR |
