Commander start up error

I have two Kenwood radios connected to my DXLab Application. I am running windows 7 dedicated to this application and has worked for years.

Now at start up I get error message: Invalid Port Number (8002), thePort = primary CAT port, port number = 10, settings = 4800,N,8,1.
I get the same message for the other radio with the port  number = 7.

Could use some help.

Thanks for reading.  73 Jack

Not sure if W7 is causing this but I would switch to  at least W10. Many things are not being supported on W7 and especially no security updates.

This is a message that the serial ports are not working. Check the
USB cable(s) between the computer and radios. Are the radios turned
on? Have you updated Windows or loaded new software/hardware?

Use Windows Device Manager to check for the USB (virtual COM) ports.

Thanks for all the replies.
Let me provide more information on this problem. I am configured for two radios, both Kenwoods. one uses port 7 and one uses port 10 (this has worked for years) . Also connected to ports are 2 thumb drives, keyboard, mouse and digital adaptor. All of these things work.

digital adaptor. All of these things work.
None of those (presumably) require virtual serial (COM) ports
and if they do they do not use the same driver as the USB to
serial converters built into the Kenwood transceivers.

Again, you will need to use Windows Device Manager to remove the
non-functioning COM 7 and COM 10, *RESTART* Windows and then
reinstall the Kenwood driver. Be sure to unplug the USB cables
from *BOTH* rigs before the uninstall/*RESTART*/reinstall.
