I just sent this to you as a reference point so that should it happen again to someone, you will have heard of it.  I know it's not very helpful without the diag info.

+ Understood. No one has ever reported that behavior with their IC-7300 here, not have I experienced it with my IC-7300.

1. I just sent this to you as a reference point so that should it happen again to someone, you will have heard of it.  I know it's not very helpful without the diag info.

2. I have programmed buttons to send the strings I want.  i just wanted to confirm what was actually being sent.

3. I understand you don't support interop with JTDX.  I may consider switching, but many DXers claimed JTDX is superior for DXing when I got into digital modes last year.  I started with it for that reason, and haven't changed to give WSJT-X a try.  I'll get around to that, especially since DXLab doesn't support JTDX.

Thanks,
Dean W8ZF

I just wanted to report that this happened with my IC-7300.  It did not repeat on subsequent tries, but maybe there is some information that would be useful to you.  Again, things are working normally now, so no action needed.  If there's anything I can do to assist in testing or experimentation, I would be happy to help.  Let me know.

Thanks,
Dean

1. In Commander->Config->General check "Display outgoing CI-V commands in Message window"
2. In Commander, click the "Msgs" button
3. Check the "Capture and display Primary CAT Port messages"
4. Uncheck "Continuous" under "Interrogation"
5. From Commander, send a command (in my case "FE FE E0 94 FB FD", to set TX power)
6. Restore "Captureer and display..." to unchecked, and "Interrogation" to "Continuous"
7. From JTDX (or, I assume WSJT) click the "Tune" button.
8. Radio communication fails, saying radio failed to follow the PTT command and subsequent "Test Cat" checks from JTDX fail.
9. Terminate and restart JTDX, still radio communication failure.
10. Terminate and restart Commander, radio communication restored.

+ Had you saved a copy of the messages captured in Commander's Messages window and sent it my way, I might have been able to determine what happened. Until you can replicate this behavior with either Commander's "Log debugging info" or "Capture and display Primary CAT Port messages" option enabled, there is no way for me to determine what happened.

+ There is no reason to disable continuous interrogation in step 4; doing so prevents Commander from tracking changes to the radio's state -- like it's frequency, mode, and passband settings. It also greatly reduces the information captured when the "Log debugging info" or "Capture and display Primary CAT Port messages" options are enabled.

+ Rather than use Commander's Messages window to type in a CI-V command and execute it, consider a creating a user-defined command sequence, which will enable you to issue that command with a button click or function key press:

https://www.dxlabsuite.com/commander/Help/CommandSequences.htm

+ DXLab does not support interoperation with JTDX. It does not conform to the programmatic interfaces defined by WSJT-X and utilized by DXLab; it's also a "hostile fork" of the WSJT-X open source project.
