I installed  Commander a couple weeks ago, today I installed some additional apps. Spot collector, Dx keeper etc.
I ran Spot Collector and promptly changed one of the default spot sources to one I use for other spotting apps, Ve7cc.net. well it didn't connect because if a winsock error. Well I would like to restore the default source in the first position, but I don't remember what it was.

I also wanted to thank the developer staff of DXLab suite to keep this suite working and updated after decades of service!

+ Welcome to DXLab, Ryan!

+ Did you configure your anti-malware and firewall to consider each of your DXLab applications to be "safe"?

Well I would like to restore the default source in the first position, but I don't remember what it was.

+ On installation, SpotCollector is configured to connect to the N6WS, EI7MRE, K1RFI, and JH1RFM DXClusters. The connection parameters for each of these clusters are available here:

http://www.dxcluster.info/telnet/index.php

+ For more information, see

Yes the firewall and anti-malware were opened up a while back, for now everything works as expected.
I replaced N6WS since that is the one I deleted, thanks for the link!
I am having a blast getting everything working, I even added some user defined buttons for my tuner, preamp and NR, the tuner one is the most important to me.

I watched a video on using Spot Collector, from a couple of years ago. He talked about all of the filter options, lots of stuff to play with. There was a Note button in the filter section that appears to have been replaced with a Tag button, in his demo he put POTA in the text box then clicked the Note button, and the list returned all POTA stations on that band at that moment, it would be nice to get that functionality back.
I have lots to learn so I am bound to be here from time to time.

+ That functionality never departed. SpotCollector's Filter panel enables the definition of 32 user-defined filters. Evidently, whoever created that video had defined a filter named NOTE whose contents were

NOTES LIKE '*POTA*'

+ Today, every Spot Database Entry contains a POTA field that is automatically populated with information from spot notes, so you can instead use

LEN(POTA)>0

+ You can also hunt for specific POTA tags, e.g.

POTA IN ('K-3505','K-1352','K-6977','K-2081')

+ See

i've always wondered which DX clusters to make use of, and why you choose these as the default. Could you give some insight? Also, is registering for these possible/beneficial? That is, an individual login with saved parameters? If I'm putting that right?

Thanks!

+ Some spot sources report DX from some geographic areas faster than from other areas, thus I recommend that DXers who are chasing needed spots use spot sources located around the world, as doing so can provide a precious minute or two of lead time before the cluster hordes descend on a newly QRV station's frequency. This also reduces the probability that a single internet outage will impact more than one spot source.

Also, is registering for these possible/beneficial? That is, an individual login with saved parameters? If I'm putting that right?

+ I'm not aware of any benefit from doing that. SpotCollector provides pre-filtering for those who wish to ignore and discard spots on specific bands, in specific modes, or from selected regions.

I figured out what the guy did to have a Notes button after watching the video and pausing it...a few times.
Notes like '*<FILTERTEXTBOX>*'.
Now I want to figure out what he did for his Country button, when he hovers over the button only part of the filter text shows.

+ Why not send email to the author of the video?
