HAVE DOGPARK SDR & MACLOGGERDX SOFTWARE

jwinner@...

Thanks very much for your info. I very much appreciate all the info I can get!

I am learning that to stay with the Mac side of Parallels I should stay with DogparkSDR and MacLoggerDX.

Unfortunately, at this time (live in Central Florida) I am spending my time watching Dorian move towards us. I have a 38' trawler on the St. John's River that will need a lot of attention along with my house that is 60 miles away.

Hopefully, Dorian will shift course and I can back to worrying about Ham Radio!

Again, thank you!

You can run the DXLab Suite in Windows 10 under Parallels on your Mac. I do it every day. Everything runs with no problem in Windows, no matter the underlying hardware.

> I am still learning and appreciate your info. I have DogparkSDR and Maclogger DX if that makes any difference?

None whatsoever. Everything is done using the components of the DXLab package.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions when needed, there are many here to help you. As I say, I use the DXLab software on my Mac every day, and I’ll be happy to help you work out any difficulties you encounter.

Just to qualify that, however, I’m not at all familiar with the Flex software and can’t do much there. There are a lot of users here, though, who can cover that area.

+ You can certainly run DXLab on Windows 10 within Parallels.
+ However, there is no interoperation between DogParkSDR and DXLab, or between MacLogger DX and DXLab.

The DXLab suite of software runs on PCs in conjunction with Microsoft Windows.  If you are still running a Macintosh computer your goal of integration DXLab Commander into MacLoggerDX is not possible.

Dear DXLAB,

I want to learn about your dxlabsuite Commander to integrate it with MacloggerDX . I am very new as I recently purchased a Flex 6700 new and trying to learn Ham Radio all over again! I have been off the air for 22 years. I have a extra class licence and have been a Ham since 1964. My call sign is K4NHK. I hope you will allow me to become a member. Boy, has radio changed since I have been off the air!!!

Great news Dave! I was really hoping you would say something like that. I really want to try digital (FT8) as I am in a HOA situation. I do have a  Titan DX vertical that I can at least tilt it over so I don't draw too much attention. I was spoiled when I lived in South Florida as I had a 4 element Cubex Quad. I could basically work anywhere in the world with my Heathkit SB-220. I still have that 220 but I have upgraded it to sell and but at this point I can't fix it.
I know I am going to enjoy the Flex when I figure out all the jargon with computers!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your comments!

+ All questions are welcome here, no matter how many times they may have already been asked and answered, and no matter how obvious the answers might be in the documentation.
+ DXLab provides a lot of functionality for DXers, and trying to learn it all at once is a recipe for being overwhelmed and frustrated. Pick one application, *scan* the reference documentation so that you understand its capabilities, and then use the step-by-step setup instructions accessible via "Getting Started with DXLab" to get basic operations -- controlling a radio, or logging a new QSO, or initiating a propagation forecast -- to work correctly. Then return to the reference documentation to setup any additional functionality you need beyond the basic functionality. When you have your first app working to your satisfaction, pick the next app. Rinse and repeat. You can proceed in any order you like, though I suspect that most ops start with Commander and then proceed to DXKeeper so they can log QSOs.

+ Welcome back to amateur radio, John. There has indeed been a lot of change over the past 22 years, much of it driven by advances in technology. Don't be overwhelmed by the learning curve; it's only as steep as you make it. Make it an enjoyable process by taking your time and asking questions when you encounter any lack of clarity.

+ DXLab is a free Suite of 8 Windows applications that can be run individually, but automatically interoperate with they sense each other's presence:

Commander: transceiver control

DXKeeper: logging, callbook queries, QSLing, award progress tracking and reporting

DXView: geographic information (location determination, world map displays, antenna rotator control, sunrise/sunset and gray line propagation displays)

Launcher: management of DXLab applications (startup, termination, upgrading)

Pathfinder: QSL route discovery

PropView: HF propagation prediction, NCDXF/IARU propagation beacon monitoring

SpotCollector: display of active DX stations color-coded by "award need" and participation in eQSL and LoTW, and associated analytics

WinWarbler: support for digital mode operation in RTTY and PSK 31/63/125, CW transmission, and a phone voice keying

A summary of DXLab's capabilities is here:

<https://www.dxlabsuite.com/differentiators.htm>

+ Commander provides transceiver control for DXLab applications and for applications that interoperate with DXLab.  Step-by-step instructions for configuring Commander for use Flex Signature radios like your 6700 is described here:

<https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/FlexSignature>

+ The depiction of active station callsigns on the Flex SmartSDR panadaptor color-coded by "award need" and participation in eQSL and LoTW is described here:

https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/FlexSignatureDisplayCallsigns

+ DXLab applications interoperate with many applications created by other developers, as shown here:

<https://www.dxlabsuite.com/download.htm#Bridges,%20Gateways,%20%20and%20Extenders>

+ While they are native Windows applications, DXLab applications can be run on Macintosh computers, as described here:

<https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/DXLabMacintosh>

+ There is no interoperation between Commander and MacloggerDX, as the latter expects to directly control your transceiver.  I do see that the MacLoggerDX web page lists this capability:

"DX Lab Suite Commander TCP Radio CAT server for WSJT-X."

+ That means MacLoggerDX emulates Commander's TCP interface in order to interact with WSJT-X. If you have questions about this, contact MacLoggerDX author Don VE3VRW.
