TQSL Update Error

Mark Robinson

I see that there is a new version of TQSL available. When I try to update, the update process terminates with an error and TQSL terminates before I can even read what the error was. I tried rebooting my pc but it is still not installing.

Is anyone else having this problem? I am currently running TQSL V2.2.2 on a Win 7 Pro 64 bit OS.

TQSL 2.3 has not been publicly announced yet, but it's available via

<http://www.arrl.org/tqsl-download>

There's a defect in TQSL 2.2.2 that prevents its "auto update" function from working correctly on Windows, so if you're having trouble upgrading, download and run the installer via

<http://www.arrl.org/files/file/LoTW%20Instructions/tqsl-2.3.msi>

I started TQSL from the desktop icon, so only TQSL is involved.

My computer is slow enough that I got an error message that said something about error 193 and then it went away.

I am running W 10 and V 2.2.2 of TQSL.

I closed TQSL and went to www.arrl.org/tqsl-download (copy and paste into your browser)

I selected version 2.3 and when the download had completed, I was able to install the new version without error.

I suggest this is an issue for ARRL/LOTW as DXLab software was not involved in the process at all.

Here,

Win 10

Got the notice about the update.
Ran the program, and the certs changed as they usually do until I get the new ones from the ARRL.

They arrived in the E-Mail,  I double clicked on them they seemed to run ok at first, but then said an error.

Yet when I look at the certs they look as if they were Up-Dated.

hmmmm?

Installing a new version of TQSL should have no impact on existing Callsign Certificates.

They arrived in the E-Mail, I double clicked on them they seemed to run ok at first, but then said an error.

Did you request one or more new Callsign Certificates?
What was the text of the error message that appeared?

Installing a new version of the TQSL program or configuration file should not have any affect on your certificates.

That umm when you go to do anything with LOTW and the box appears  saying a new version is available click yes, then hit the renew thing.

Joe, is there any chance that when you "ran the program" you were actually requesting a new certificate when you thought you were checking for updates?

I continue to get a notice about Upgrade V2.3 being available. However, when I get to the Box that says Click to install, after a few seconds, a very quick error message (too quick to read) appears . .  . and system continue to function with current version. If a Fix has been discussed, I missed it . . . since have had no such probs w/ TQSL upgrades in the past. Pls advise.

TQSL is publicly available now and I tried the installer, trouble.
It wants me to sign a log, no signing here if it isn't through DXKeeper.

If you dare clicking the Ignore option then you go through 1000's of conversion errors. I cancelled the lot before matters get worse.

Thanks Ian,

How did I/we miss the note from ARRL that 2.2.2 had a bug not allowing updates?  The direct download and install from ARRL worked.

Thanks much for you help.
