an analysis of Remote Beacon Network (RBN) spots and their impact on SpotCollector's performance
Dave, as I said to you off-list, we appreciate your support for DXLab users connecting to "retail" DX clusters rather than to the RBN's own servers. On both the old and new (beta.reversebeacon.net) we

Truncation of First CW Character
Thanks, Joe. I think there's something to be said for the Winwarbler approach, precisely because I already have lead time set up in N1MM. OTOH, it wouldn't be that hard to zero that out if the Winkeye

Thanks, Dave - I haven't even installed Winwarbler up until now, because I don't operate digital modes to speak of. Does this mean that I will have to start Winwarbler to enable the lead-in delay. 73,

I just had a report during a QSO of truncation of the first character of my CW. I was running DXKeeper and Commander. Since 99 percent of my QSOs are in contests with N1MM, I've relied on provision in

I suggest making sure that all the stuff in your shack, including the computer, have their chassis bonded together and to the ground rod. You can find the computer ground on one of the mounting screws

I forgot to mention - you can also set a filter to *always* report spots of YOU, regardless of spotter location. It's an excellent way to see where you're being heard when, and to follow the trend in

It's probably worth reminding people that geography of the Telnet node you connect to is no longer a big deal. I routinely use nc7j.com:7373 in Utah from my QTH in MD. Reliability s more important. It

Radio Amateurs of Canada awards now accept LoTW confirmations...
I agree that it's unfortunate that the RAC announcement doesn't mention ARRL, but I think you may be jumping too quickly to negative conclusions. ARRL and RAC have seemed to have a pretty good relatio

Broken RBN Spots

I agree. I used one for a number of years, and even wrote a review for QST back in the day. Excellent support from the programmer in those days - don't know if he's so accessible now that Vibroplex ha

Process to import logs from N1MM+
Exactly what I do every month. One refinement (maybe) is that I export to ADIF by date for all contests, and N1MM remembers the last time I did this, which pretty much eliminates duplicates. 73, Pete

This has probably been said, but I upload ADIF from N1MM to DXLab and from DXLab to LOTW monthly. Takes about 10 minutes and the only hitches I've had involve errors in specifying DXCC (calls like 4U2
