Subject: [dxlab] Rtty no tx power output

Hi dave

A newby friend od5vg, newly licenced, asked me to help me set up dxlab for him, on an hp laptop and an icom 7300.

I did the complete setup smoothly. At the end i have 3 glitches, i ask you to help me solve:
1. On rtty, the computer is able to ptt the radio and transmit is lit. However no output power is showing on the external power meter. However i realized that while keyed, the mic pics up our vouces and transmits it, i.e. the power meter shows watts output when we speak, although rtty and lsb-data shows on the radio.

>>>If the radio is transmitting audio from a microphone instead of audio from a soundcard output, what must not be connected or configured properly?

$$ i am not sure what to answer. The soundcard?

+++ Where is the soundcard located?

2. Propagation prediction. When we double click on a station in sc, capture is populated with all the required data and also dxv. But predict display is blank. I click on sp or lp predict and nothing appears.

>>>On the Parameters tab of PropView's Main window, what parameters aren't specified?

$$ sfi, avail, take off,

+++ Try specifying those parameters. See

<http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/Propagation>

3. Capture when duly populated, does send the dx station callsign to pf which shows on the callsign space above left in pf. But pf does not show qrz data on this callsign until i click on qrz tab in pf.

>>>How does Pathfinder know what search to use when it receives a callsign from DXKeeper?

$$ i am not sure. Is there a place i should specify qrz as the search engine?

+++ Exactly. See

<http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/QSLRouteDiscovery>

OK, I solved the problem by changing properties to "run as administrator."

Doing that might prevent the Launcher from being able to communicate with your other DXLab applications (that aren't run with Admin privileges).

As an afterthought if my memory serves me well: if using TS-870 KY command for keying - keep in mind that the command has a FIXED number of characters to send - no more, no less. And not easy to count once entered as well.

Commander manages that, so neither WinWarbler nor the user need be cognizant of it.

Just noticed my time in DX Keeper is off. I have my computer settings correct. Not sure where to look. Any suggestions?

DXKeeper and the other DXLab applications use your Windows time and time zone settings. Be sure you have Windows configured to the correct time zone.

I have defined a separate workspace for each radio in my shack. When switching workspaces I get prompted multiple times for permission to change registry settings. How can I configure the security settings for DXLAB Launcher to automatically have permission for registry modification without being prompting?

If Google doesn't reveal which Windows setting to modify, I suggest that you ask Microsoft Support.

It's most likely that you do not actually have your computer settings
correct. Check what timezone Windows is configured for - it's likely
not the right one (maybe one that doesn't observe daylight savings).

I am using Windows 10 with a new computer.  My previous computer used Windows 7 and I didn't get prompted to grant permission.

Thanks for any help.

After you put the call in the “capture” window call box you have to hit enter on your keyboard. This activates the call box. Then assuming you set up qrz properly hit “lookup” and you should be fine.

That's not correct.
You can type a callsign into the Capture window and then click the Lookup button (or strike CTRL-F) without first striking the Enter key.
Try it!

Thanks Steve,

Ive not had any Insider Preview problems until the last couple of updates.  I think it might be time to go back to the general releases.  The computer is due for a rebuild anyway.

That is a definite Insider Preview issue. Rolling back to a previous build fixed the problem on one PC, but *BRICKED* another one. So, make sure you have a backup image before rolling back.

Subject: [dxlab] Missing Check Boxes

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance with a problem I've seen with my DXLab Suite setup.

I'm missing the check boxes to choose options in the configuration section of the apps. The following is an example of what I get:
[]

I'm running Window 10 Enterprise, Insider Preview Build 17035.rs_prerelease. Not sure when the issue started, but it was all there when I installed it some 5 months ago.
Has anyone seen this before, and if so, is there a fix for it?
I'm trying to avoid re-installing the suite.

>>>That's almost certainly a defect in the Windows 10 pre-release you are running. Re-installing DXLab is unlikely to make a difference. Please report this behavior to Microsoft Windows Insider Support organization.
