Subject: [dxlab] DX Commander problem?

I was over at a friend's house yesterday and am not sure whether there is a problem with his DX Commander or not.

The background is that DXLab Suite was originally put on his computer, almost a year ago, to link to a Yaesu FT991. It has not been used again until this week and he now has a Kenwood TS-990.

He has upgraded all parts of the suite to the latest versions.

DxX Commander has been set up for the Kenwood and is working correctly, including with WSJT-X and through a transverter.

But I noticed that DX Commander has options for Data-L and Data-U even though the Radio is a Kenwood. (I know that with my Kenwood TS-590 neither of these options appear)

Should this be the case or does it signify there is a problem with his DX Commander configuration?

As noted in the upper-right corner of page 4-10 of the TS-990S instruction manual, the TS-990S supports data modes.

I just let it update to "Version 1709 (OS Build 17025.1000)", and find
that radio-buttons and check-boxes are not rendering in the DXLab
Suite apps. No problems in any other apps so-far. Guessing it may be a
problem with a VB6 toolkit library or something....

Thanks for the reply Paul. I figured we could do a user report but it would be nice if Something could be done that would alert us when a grid came up in SC that we haven’t worked.

Julio,

There is already a grid report that is useful for this. You can filter your log by year and for LoTW confirmations only if you wish.

The one deficiency in that report is that it doesn't support grid line QSOs (my report always shows many fewer than the VUCC report because of grid line and corner QSOs). That should be corrected as the ARRL International Grid Chase does allow operations from grid lines and corners.

If it is the latter what should be done to correct it?  I did think about using the clear registry option but am loathe to do it without advice from here.

I too experienced this problem a little time ago. The only solution (without reinstalling Windows 10) I found worked reliably was to completely remove the serial driver in question and then re-install the driver version you want.

Detailed procedure here:

http://g3nrw.net/ts-590-files/HOWTO_INSTALLING_WIN10_DRIVERS_v1.1.pdf

Hope that helps.

Dumb question, if W10 forces the update can't you just back up to the restore point before the update was installed, just in case
Microsoft is slow fixing the problem?

That option does not appear . My only option is a clean install. The update happened again last night. Now ONLY DXLABS programs are working . WSJT and VLC media player both refuse to play with the USB sound card.

Since DXLABS works and I do not want to have to Restore images over and over I will just forget about WSJT until Signalink fixes this problem.

I should add that if I configured to use the default sound card which is on the motherboard that it worked fine with the update. It is the USB sound card that failed. Not a good way to run if you want to avoid transmitting windows sounds and other unwanted sounds. It also would not allow use of the Signalink.
