Dave & Rich.......
No luck yet but I did use Select ( making a back up first) and examined a few suspect Back ups.
No success.
Fortunately the rarest DX of these is New Hampshire so I'm not too concerned.
As I said, I did learn something so I'm ahead!

Using Recover is appropriate when you plan to discard the current log and revert to a backup. The first thing Recover does is change the filename of your current log to include "obsolete".

When mining previous backups for inadvertently deleted QSOs, the current log is being retained -- it's set aside while you hunt for the missing QSOs by opening a succession of backups, and then reloading.

In the "find and restore lost QSOs" scenario, I don't see how the Recover function can do anything other than add steps and the potential for confusion.

Bill,
Choosing "Select" in the "Log file" panel might work if the folder that
contains your main log file happens to be the same as your Backup folder
but if that's not the case it wont work. The correct thing to do is to
Choose "Recover" in the "Backup folder" panel.

Bill does not want to revert to an older log, Rich. He's attempting to locate a backup that contains losts QSOs, export those QSOs to an ADIF file, reload his current log, and import the ADIF file.

Clicking the Select button gives you a standard Windows file selector window that lets you choose the log file to be opened.

Clicking the Open button assumes you have specified the pathname of the log file to be opened.

Hi All,
Not sure if I've not set something wrong, or if its a bug.
However, when running spotcollector, dxkeeper etc the Band Sought and Mode
Sought field don't seem to update automatically when a spot is recieved.

Can Dave or anyone shed any light on this?

The "Band Sought" and "Mode Sought" Spot Database fields reflect the
state of the band and mode checkboxes in the "DXCC Bands & Modes" panel on
the Awards tab of DXKeeper's Configuration window. For a description of each
Spot Database field, see

By chance, learned I was missing a QSO in my log.
To verify, I looked for other known QSO’s on that date.
I also did a Filter search using the date.
The Q’s are gone.
Now, on the DXK Config page, there as a box that one clicks to identify a Back up to revert to.
Should I just go to the most recent Back up and work my way back till I find the missing?

No.
The Revert function means replaces the contents of the current log file with the contents of a specify backup. You might use this is you were about to perform a complex procedure, made a backup named A, performed the complex procedure, and disliked the result; at that point, reverting to A makes perfect sense.
In your case, you've lost some QSOs. You hope those QSOs will exist in some backup made between today and the day those QSOs were logged. To do this, use Windows Explorer to examine the folder where you backups are kept, and determine which backups meet that criterion. Then use the "Log file" panel on the Configuration window's Log tab to load a candidate backup file, starting with the most recent first. When you find a backup that contains the missing QSOs, filter the Log Page Display so that only those QSOs are visible in the Log Page Display, and export those QSOs to an ADIF file.
Then use the "Log file" panel to load your current log, and import the ADIF file you just created.

Re: Does not select RTTY contest qso's when Add Requested used

Dave AA6YQ

Thanks for sending me your log, Allan.

The QSOs in question are not being added to the "QSL Queue" for LotW when you click "Add Needed" because the "Station Callsign" item recorded with these QSOs does not match the callsign you specified in the "Limit Add and Sync operations to this callsign" box on the "QSL Configuration" panel's LotW tab.

On the Main window's "Log QSOs" tab, select one of these QSOs with the "Auxiliary" panel open so you can see it's "Station Callsign".

Yes the contacts were logged using WinWarbler (which works great by the way)
and the Initialize LotW Sent box is ticked.

OK. Please place your log file (the .mdb) into a zip archive, attach it
to an email message that identifies a couple of the RTTY QSOs that DXKeeper
refuses to place in the LotW QSL Queue when you click "Add Requested", and
send it to me at aa6yq (at) ambersoft.com so I can see what's going on.

Dave,

VUCC went live on LoTW this morning. Appears to work similarly to WAS
in that you have to set up an account with a rule in order to see your
totals.

Do we need to do anything to get this to work with DXKeeper or is it
"ready to go"? I know we can display LoTW credits in the VUCC
progress report, but is that it or is there more that needs to be
done?

At the top of the Configuration window's Awards tab, check the "Include

In the next version of DXKeeper, this won't be necessary.

Re: Winwarbler w/o Callbook Lookup ??

Wolf, DK1FW <dk1fw@...>

Thanks Dave,

Elapsed time was actually my concern, not CPU load.
I had overlooked that I can search previous qso and do a callbook lookup on demand by clicking the questionmark before the call field in WW, when "automatic lookup" is unchecked. That satisfies me needs.

Subject: [dxlab] Winwarbler w/o Callbook Lookup ??

I am logging my QSOs through WW.
To reduce computer load I want to look-up previous QSOs but NO callbook
lookup.

So I have "Automatic lookup" enabled in WW and"Automatically use callbook
data to initialize new QSOs" disabled in DXK.

This works as it should when logging through the capture window. However,
when I log through Winwarbler a Callbook Lookup is still performed.

Have I a overlooked a setting or is this a glitch ?

On the Log tab of WinWarbler's Configuration window, uncheck the "QSO
Info" panel's "automatic lookup" box. This option governs both the search
for previously logged QSOs and the callbook lookup.

If you're trying to reduce CPU load, eliminating the search for
previously logged QSOs has the larger impact; eliminating an
over-the-internet callbook lookup has more impact on elapsed time.

If you want to retain the search for previous logged QSOs but not perform
the callbook lookup, then leave the "QSO Info" panel's "automatic lookup"
box checked, and on the Callbook tab of DXKeeper's Configuration window,
select the None option.
