Re: Spots Clearing Issue when Running N1MM+

There are times when I want to toggle off spots on my SSDR displays coming from SC to see just spots from N1MM+'s Telnet function. To do so I switch off Commander>Config>Bandspread>Display calls on panadapter and I no longer get SC spots displayed as expected. However the spots coming from N1MM+ are very frequently cleared from the display. If I close Commander, this no longer happens. Is it possible that when SC updates and sends new spots to Commander for display, something like a "redraw" command is involved which includes a "clear spots" function that is still happening even though the spots themselves aren't being displayed ?

Obviously, I'd prefer to have Commander running to provide the radio interface for the rest of DXL so I don't want to just close it, right ?

+ Commander is not designed to share SmartSDR with another transceiver control application.

Dave,

I have the same problem as Kent, if you use the space to change fields, the same thing happens, works fine (in my case Pathfinder to perform "lookup" operations) but you lose the focus.

Thanks

Given I do not know which qsl have been changed by my niece, I do not know from which date she 'submitted' from

I assume that it was qso dated after Jan 1st.

The ask is to create an sql (spell check change that to sal in previous email) to reset the indicator back to not submitted. ( I assume that is an 'N') from any qso that were logged Jan 1 2020 and afterwards

+ Do you have a log backup that you can restore?

Walt, the ARRL has daily bulletin service in RTTY from W1AW.  Check the ARRL web site for the schedule.  The Reverse Beacon Network also spots RTTY, but in my experience activity is pretty low outside contests

Check out the Reverse Beacon Network
at <http://reversebeacon.net>, now
spotting RTTY activity worldwide.
For spots, please use your favorite

While using the gateway, if I enter a callsign in N1MM and hit enter the info is populated in N1MM but then the focus goes to the gateway application. I have to click on the N1MM log window so I can hit enter to log the qso. Is there a way to keep the gateway from taking the focus?
+ The new "Operation log" added in  Gateway1.1.6 may be responsible for that; I will investigate...

Thank you for your quick response for the update to N1MM to DxKeeper Gateway. I'm trying it out now and really like the new log feature.
One issue though. I get a popup from DXkeeper "there is no log page display sort specified, sorting the log page display by QSO date".
+ In the Sort panel in the lower-left corner of the "Log QSOs" tab on DXKeeper's Main window, select "UTC".

Dave-
Thank you for your quick response for the update to N1MM to DxKeeper Gateway. I'm trying it out now and really like the new log feature.
One issue though. I get a popup from DXkeeper "there is no log page display sort specified, sorting the log page display by QSO date". This popup puts a halt to the contacts transferring to DXkeeper and LOTW. If I press OK, I get one more contact transferred and then the message again. It doesn't appear to lose any, it just holds them. I had to press it twenty times this morning to clear the logjam.  I've looked at the menus and don't see one to indicate a default sort to prevent the popup from appearing. I've been seeing the issue lately and I think I've seen it before this latest revision.
Thanks again for the quick revision to N1MM to Dxkeeper Gateway.

My 7 year old niece was playing my laptop (when we were not on lockdown).. I think most of you know the end results. The end result she set WAS qsl as submitted and then cleared the panel.

+ Which panel was cleared?

I tried creating an sal to set it back to N ( I believe that is the state it should be before my 'jr' in training, never to touch anything with me there, operator

damn... i always hate it when i'm told its in the manual, as i do normally try to at least look at it... i read that section but misunderstood what the "filtered" meant in the context of the audio stuff.

I agree what is implemented is more flexible and desired (splitting the display/announcments apart) and its the right thing to do and fairly obvious... my query may have been a bit ambiguous.

i normally do a lot or RTFM... before i post something here.   Having created a few apps in my time, I realize how supporting the thing is no trivial effort on your part, thank you for that.   apologize for taking your "support" bandwidth Dave...

Re: DXK: LotW Sent/Rcvd Status for FT4

Dave AA6YQ

The root cause of the behavior reported below: Larry was running DXKeeper 14.7.9, which was publicly released in December 2018 before DXKeeper provided support for FT4.

The fix? Upgrade to the current version of DXKeeper.

Some time ago I happened to notice that some QSOs that had been confirmed in LotW did not have that reflected in their status in DXK. I remember manually updated some QSOs, but I didn't really pay much attention to the details. Until now.

When I noticed this again, I began to investigate and found that this seemed to affect FT4 QSOs. When I checked LotW, I found 406 FT4 QSOs of which 304 were confirmed. DXK showed 395 QSOs but only 6 confirmed! I suspect that these 6 QSO records were ones I updated manually, but I'm not sure because I did that months ago and as I said I didn't really pay much attention back then.

I automatically log FT8/4 contacts to DXK via JTAlert and from there upload to LotW. I've found that LotW_QSL_Sent for the contacts LotW is showing as confirmed is "U" and not "Y", and LotW_QSL_Rcvd show as "R". I've looked at my latest LotW_QSOs_ADI.txt and it shows acknowledgment of FT4 QSOs as well as for other modes but LotW_QSL_Sent shows them as "U". Likewise, I checked my latest LotW_QSLs_ADI.txt and found that only the FT4 QSLs did not have LotW_QSL_Rcvd changed from "R" to "Y".

What could be going on here? I haven't attempted to see if this happens for contacts in other modes, so is this specific to FT4? Is there a fix? And how do I go about correcting the status of hundreds of contact?

I will first try to invoke my command sequences in a different way.
If that does not solve it i will check with Dick.

Re: Commander + CW Skimmer to Commander - strange behaviour

Dave AA6YQ

+ AA6YQ comments below

1. Step: only Commander, CW Skimmer to Commander and CW Skimmer are started Commander's initial command sequence sets both VFOs to CW and same frequency (AB command). No split.
After the AB command only the normal status polling/reporting occurs.
When I set the radio to Split and click into CW Skimmer -VFO-A is commanded to its previous frequency -VFO-B is commanded to the click-frequency -VFO-B is commanded to CW mode So everything works as it should

2. Step: same configuration as in 1. Step I invoke my FT8 command sequence, which puts VFO-A(RX) into USB with 4kHz bandwidth and VFO-B(TX) to PKT-U.
After that I invoke my CW command sequence, which is the same as Commander's initial command sequence.
When I then set Split and click into CW Skimmer
- message flow shows the commands as in 1.Step So still everything is OK

3. Step: Winwarbler ( with no mode-control from Commander) added to the configuration of 1. Step When the FT8 command sequence and subsequently the CW command sequence are invoked from Commander
- message flow shows the commands as in 1.Step So still everything is OK

4. Step: same configuration as 3.Step
Now the FT8 sequence and subsequently the CW sequence are invoked from Winwarbler (PSK31 / CW) These Commander command sequences are part of my PSK and CW start-up makros.
This has set again both VFOs to CW and same frequency (AB command). No split.
After the AB command only the normal status polling/reporting occurs.
When I set the radio to Split and click into CW Skimmer -VFO-A is commanded to its previous frequency -VFO-B is commanded to the click-frequency -VFO-B is commanded to PKT-U mode So the problem has come up and seems to have someting to do with Winwarbler

5. Step: Winwarbler terminated
FT8 command sequence and subsequently the CW command sequence are invoked from Commander When I set the radio to Split and click into CW Skimmer -VFO-A is commanded to its previous frequency -VFO-B is commanded to the click-frequency -VFO-B is commanded to PKT-U mode So the problem persists in spite of WW having been terminated

The only way out now is to teminate and restart Commander.

+ Thanks, Wolf!
