Subject: [dxlab] can't install DXLAB

When I run DXLabLauncher197Archive.exe on my windows 10 pc, a windows installer window appears and it says "preparing to install" and then hangs. The rest of the installation creates the directories and brings up the "getting started-DXlab suite browser window and says it is finished. If I try to bring up the launcher again or winwarbler, I get the same windows installer window hang.

That could be interference from an anti-malware application.
Please reboot Windows 10 into "safe mode with networking", and then immediately try running DXLabLauncher197Archive.exe
Any difference in behavior?

I've been making satellite QSOs lately and upload a QSO or 3 pretty much after every pass. I've noticed that, even on the day before a major holiday with no contest on, it still takes a good 5 minutes
(19:56:27 to 20:01:05, to be ridiculously precise) to chew on my upload, in this case a whole 2 QSOs.

It's not the hours/days from the big meltdown a few years back, but that's still not where we were a few years before that (nearly instant save for right after a big contest).

"Wall clock time" in a multiprocessing system optimized for total throughput over response time is not a relevant measure of performance.
Not too long ago, I changed the instructions in "Getting started with DXLab" from "wait a day" to "wait a few minutes" after submitting QSOs before invoking "Sync LoTW QSOs".

Dave et al -

Logging with DXKeeper and had started with years of a DX4WIN log -

Always notice, when looking at DXKeeper Log QSO s page, that on the left, half way down - a field is flashing - myQTH

The question - QSO s included in my log, from the start are all from this one QTH - should I add and complete that field? - and how?
seems that I ve been able to easily interface with LoTW - however I read comments on this reflector and figured there are no stupid questions.

>>>All questions are welcome here.

Change or stay with the same, (with the flashing myQTH) ???

>>>If you've only operated from one location, then there is no need to define a "my QTH".

>>>However, if you've defined one or more "my QTHs", then DXKeeper will flag any QSO that doesn't specify a "my QTH ID".

Oops I sent it before I was ready. I tried the following script:

filter (MODE LIKE 'FT8')

Report DXCC FT8_DXCC.txt

However, while it showed me the countries by band that I have worked and confirmed, but it included the header information (CW, SSB,
RTTY, etc). I was looking for a list without the header. This works, but not exactly what I was looking for. How do I write a
script that shows the countries worked and confirmed, but does not show the header information?

Subject: [dxlab] Winwarbler CW - extra delay between characters

I would like to add an additional delay of half dot or one dot between the last two characters of my callsign M0IHT. With regular keying the characters "HT" are often confused with either "V" or with "4". I am NOT using the winkeyer but use Winwarbler CW via a dedicated port. Which character do I add in a macro between "H" and "T" to add this additional delay?

The current version of WinWarbler does not provide that capability. WinKey version 2 interprets the | character to mean "insert a one-half dit delay", so I have sent you a new version of WinWarbler that provides this capability when you have the Keying panel on the Configuration window's CW tab set to "serial port RTS", "serial port DTR", or "parallel port".
When running this new version, try sending M0IH|T
Please let me know how it goes...

I am not sure if it was empty but I think not. I think it had the correct name and I put the cursor in the box and hit return and it
was accepted.

When a US QSO specifying a State is selected on the Main window's "Log QSOs" tab, the County selector is populated with the
counties for that State, ensuring that you can only choose a valid county. There is no "acceptance" procedure.

I assume that sincwe I did the broke check again and got no broken then all are ok.

I thought that was it but I went back to the log, selected the broken entry spot where the county should go, clicked on the box that
contained it. It was accepted and is no longer shown as broken. Not sure what was happening but it no longer shows any broken and
agrees with the county given by QRZ ???

Should that happen? Have I just overridden with an invalid county?

Was the QSO's county selector empty when you first selected it?

Subject: [dxlab] Commander and Expert 1k-FA RS-232

Howdy-

Been doing some digging and still not coming up with anything that seems to achieve what I wish to do:

I have a SPE 1K-FA amp, with CAT control set to RS-232 (which uses the
DB-9 remoting port and not the two input DB-15 ports). In Commander, I've been reading some old posts (circa 2012) which says to do the
following:

Secondary CAT Serial Port

Enabled, Follow Primary. I've tried the PW1 protocol
(http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/PW1Control) as well as a couple others (Kenwood, Elecraft -- probably wrong). The port is set to the same com port as the 1K-FA's control port.

What I'm hoping is that band data gets sent to the Expert to enable automatically switching bands.

Some reading I've been doing:

Pg. 56 of the 1K-FA manual -
http://www.expertlinears.com/pdfs/expert_1K_manual.pdf

Expert Communication Protocol Specifications - http://www.spetlc.com/images/download/1K-FA/EXPERT_Protocol_2.pdf

What am I missing here?

I have my SPE 2K-FA's CAT1 port connected to a PC serial port controlled by Commander's "Secondary CAT Serial Port" panel. The SPE 2K-FA is configured to use the Kenwood protocol at 19,200 baud. Commander's "Secondary CAT Serial Port" is enabled, and configured to use the Kenwood protocol at 19,200 baud, with "Follow primary" selected.
