A friend of mine, non ham, asked me about the medium distance of a contact. I answered it can be between a few meters and the roughly 20K Kilometres of Chatham Island from Monaco, and CQ is the most exciting side of amateur radio. But, once at home, the Curiosity pushed me, and I tried to calculate the medium distance covered with one of my QSOs. + As is documented here https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxkeeper/Help/Export.htm#Exporting%20a%20tab-delimited%20file

Realtime tracking for DXCC Satellite
Joe W4WT
Is there realtime tracking for dxcc satellite? I see a satellite column in Progress but I don't see satellite in realtime. Is there a config setting somewhere I might be missing? I see it for WAS just not for DXCC.
Thanks, Joe W4WT

Medium Distance
Franco 3a2mw
Hi Dave and the Group,
A friend of mine, non ham, asked me about the medium distance of a contact. I answered it can be between a few meters and the roughly 20K Kilometres of Chatham Island from Monaco, and CQ is the most exciting side of amateur radio. But, once at home, the Curiosity pushed me, and I tried to calculate the medium distance covered with one of my QSOs. I exported a tab-delimited log file, but distance is not there. A manual sum is impossible, having in my log > 60K QSOs with grid square and distance. Is there any way to solve this "problem" ? Thanks ! 73 Franco 3A2MW

I can’t figure out why my SpotCollector is displaying PY and ZS prefix spots. Re: DXKeeper: State QSO Tracks As R Even Tho It's a C

If I use DXKeeper's Realtime Award Tracking window searching for "Requested" LOTW QSLs (or cards), the WAS Award Progress window shows an "R" for the state in question. If I click on the "R" for that state, DXKeeper log-window shows me several QSOs for the state which are requested plus one (1) QSO which is marked in the Logpage display as confirmed by LOTW. + "Confirmed by LoTW" does not necessarily mean "Confirmed by LoTW for WAS". What letters are present in this QSO's "LoTW Cfm" item? 73, Dave, AA6YQ

DXKeeper: State QSO Tracks As R Even Tho It's a C
Gerald Wilson
I am puzzling over a question about a
confirmation of a certain state on 10m in these days of lesser
(but improving) propagation. I performed a Recompute under the DXKeeper Check Progress tab, but that did not change the results. On the DXKeeper's Realtime Award Tracking window,
if I change the WAS Award Progress Filter from "R" to "C" for
confirmed, then the state in question disappears from the
display because the state and corresponding QSO are not
recognized as confirmed. I am wondering if I have made a mistake with some setting or entry to generate this problem or perhaps I have made an error on this single QSO entry. Operating System: Windows 10 Pro with 32 GB RAMDXKeeper 16.3.2 DXView 4.7.9 Thanks for such great tools to use for our hobby, and thanks in advance for directing me toward a solution. 73, Jerry K7VIT

Is I possible to back up my logbook in ADIF format as well as the standard .MDB format?.. Why!? I hear you all asking. When portable, I use my IPad as it’s small, light and useable. The log program I use on there is RUMLog which will accept ADIF downloads. I like to keep my logbook up to date so I don’t miss anything. This, would be the ideal way as it could be used on my other laptops/platforms. + Every DXLab user should have a backup-and-recovery application that backs up modified files daily to local storage, and at least weekly to cloud storage. As described here, this can be done at little to no cost: https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/BackupRecovery + Because some users will ignore this advice no matter how often I repeat it, I provided a simple built-in log backup mechanism that when enabled automatically backs up the current log file when DXKeeper is terminated. I have resisted subsequent requests to expand the functionality of this mechanism because doing so would be re-inventing an existing wheel. + You can setup a script that removes all filtering from the Log Page Display and then Exports your log in ADIF format to a specific filename. See https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxkeeper/Help/Scripts.htm 73, Dave, AA6YQ

mea culpa.....I missed a step at the beginning, I failed to turn OFF all the other colors in WSJT, thats why I had a rainbow type display all over the screen.....with those colors off, looks much better,,,,

From: DXLab@groups.io [mailto:DXLab@groups.io] On Behalf Of Dave AA6YQ Sent: Thursday, October 07, 2021 4:39 PM To: DXLab@groups.io Subject: [DXLab] updating DXLab's DXCC Database DXLab's DXCC Database contains 5 tables: 1. Settings 2. Master 3. Prefix 4. DXCC 5. Location The Settings table contains the database's version number, an indication of whether it's been modified, and an indication as to whether the modification involved changes to a DXCC entity that require recomputation in DXKeeper. The Master table is what you see in DXView's "DXCC Database" window when you click the DXCC button in the lower-right corner of DXView's Main window. Each entry in this table specifies a set of callsign prefixes for a location (like "Alberta" or "Baikonur") within a DXCC entity, along with relevant information aboutthat location and entity -- like a latitude and longitude, a CQ and ITU zone, a time zone, a DXCC country code, and a DXCC country name. There's only one entry in the Master table for Eswatini/Swaziland, but there are multiple entries for large DXCC entities like Russia and China. The Prefix table contains one entry for every valid callsign prefix, linking that prefix to a DXCC entity and an entry in the Master table. The DXCC table contains one entry for each DXCC entity, and contains the entity's name, date when first valid, and date when last valid (if no longer valid) The Location table contains one entry specifying the geographic details of each location referenced in the Master table The Prefix, DXCC, and Location tables only exist to accelerate access to information that is present in the Master table. After you change one or more entries in the Master table and click the "Save" button, clicking the "reTable" button deletes the Prefix, DXCC, and Location tables, and then regenerates each of them from the Master table. Thus any changes you make in the Master table will be propagated to the other tables. 73, Dave, AA6YQ

Re: QRZ Not working in DX Keeper
Dave AA6YQ

Weird thing happening...I am paid up on my QRZ subscription..and I have no problem logging in through the internet. Yet on DXKeepr, all of a sudden it will not look up station, and I get the error message "Callbook error when looking up (station); a subscription is requred to access the compelte record. Well, when I go to "Config" and to the tab Callbook...scroll down to XML Data under the QRZ.com tab, I double checked that my QRZ creds are correctly input... Still does not work....what is happening? + Logging into QRZ through the internet doesn't require an XML Data subscription. + Since DXKeeper didn't change, the only thing that could have changed is QRZ. Furthermore, the error message " a subscription is required to access the complete record" comes from QRZ, not from DXKeeper. Thus I suggest that you contact QRZ support. 73, Dave, AA6YQ

Re: Triplicate January QSOs created about one month ago
Dave AA6YQ
+ AA6YQ comments below
+ Yes, duplicate elimination is expensive; each QSO must be checked against every other QSO in your log, so the time required is proportional to the square of the number of QSOs in your log. + Duplicates *always* get through unless you are careful to never import them, or unless you enable duplicate checking during import operations (which is also expensive). 73, Dave, AA6YQ
