Thanks Dave. I think I zapped right by that little box several times. Must have been one of those things where I was looking for "time" and the secret was to look for "clock!"

Suddenly realized why there's no mouse scroll bar - there's nothing to
scroll! All the fields shown in the layout file can be seen, so there's
nothing to scroll to!

However, that doesn't explain what happened to part of the hover mode. If
the mouse cursor is hovered over the items on the Lab Launcher, you can see
the "notes." But they've effectively disappeared in the log display and I
can't find an option that toggles them on or off.

I was at a friend's house earlier today, giving him some pointers on the
DXLab suite. We made some field additions to his display and, somewhere
along the line, something went wrong.

We lost the mouse scroll bar at the bottom of DXKeeper. The extreme lower
part of the log display (including the piece that allows splitting the
display vertically) disappeared. When DXKeeper is closed, during the backup
procedure, there's a flash of it, but it never returns.

We rebooted - no joy. I changed from his display file to the default.txt
display file - no joy.

In addition to the mouse scroll bar, the ability to hover the mouse over
the log display is virtually all gone as well. If you hover the mouse over
the DXCC prefix, it will display the entity and that's it.
Normally, when you hover over the log display, you'll see something that
tells you about clicking or double-clicking on the call, etc. That
disappeared as well.

K3 and WinWarbler RTTY

dk1ip <dk1ip@...>

hi Dave and group,

I recently found a quirk (surely op error!) trying to prepare the rig for sincere RTTY operation.
I have K3 in 'DATA A', which means AFSK A at 45bps. K3 is on firmware 3.03/2.10.
Running Commander 7.7.2, WW 6.3.6 with MMTTY 1.66G engine on a XP2 OS.
Everything works as it should, but:
Starting WW will immediately (fraction of a second) after startup shift MMTTY 85 Hz lower than wanted. You can see it easily with waterfall showing the two frequency marks in yellow at my place for a short while being at the right place and then moving 85 Hz down. I'm working AFSK at 1445 Hz / 170 Hz shift.
I can move mark to the right frequency by calling up the MMTTY engine's config window and change the mark frequency from 1360 Hz to 1445 Hz (demodulator tab).
From now on everything is fine ... until I shut down WW an start it again the next time.
When working another MMTTY standalone (different folder, 1.65D Version) everything works as it should. Even the communication with K3 is working (VFO polling in Kenwood (use auto info) mode).
What am I doing wrong?
I tried nearly everything I can think of: WW different offsets, using USB or LSB, evrytime the same behavior. Except when changing from USB to LSB the inital jump is just to the other side (USB - 85 Hz down, LSB - 85 Hz up).
It's not a show-stopper, but I#d like to know the reason for it.

73 Wolf
DK1IP from JO53ee

pse excuse my English, I tried to explain as good as possible (for me). But please ask for further explanations if needed!

Re: e7 in dxcc field dxkeeper

Dave AA6YQ

I suspect this is happening because you didn't perform a Recomp(ute)
operation on your V31TB log after upgrading to the DXCC database version
that changed Bosnia-Herzegovina's DXCC Prefix from T9 to E7. Evidently you
did perform a Recomp on your KT7G log.

To correct this, please

1. select the Config windows' Defaults tab, and verify that the installed
DXCC Database version is 2.2.5

2. if so,

2a. open your V31TB log

2b. select the Main window's "Check Progress" tab and click the Recomp
button

You should now be able to log QSOs with a DXCC prefix of E7 in your V31TB
log. If not, please let me know...

If I select "E7" in the dxcc field, or it is selected because of the call, I
cannot leave that screen until I change it to something else. The red
flashing dxcc won't let me do anything or leave until I change the "e7" to
something else. It may have been E7 when I opened up that contact but it
can't be when I leave unless I just close dxkeeper. To make it even
stranger It only seems to occur with the V31tb database, not the KT7G one.
E7 does not show in the progress screen either, on the v31tb call but ok on
kt7g?

The Launcher can be configured to start non-DXLab applications, but there is no standard means by which the Launcher can direct a non-DXLab application to initiate an orderly shutdown. The only way the Launcher could terminate a non-DXLab application would be to direct Windows to terminate the process -- but that would not be an orderly shutdown, and so could result in the loss of un-saved information, or worse.

In addition to the ones Dave mentioned:

ve1dxi.no-ip.com on port 23 (Located in Nova Scotia)

It, in turn, is connected to, and shares spots with:

k1ttt.net (AR Cluster node, east coast NA)
dxc.k3nc.com (CC Cluster node, eastern USA)
k8smc.com (CC Cluster node, central USA)
dxc.n4zkf.com (CC Cluster node, north-central USA)
dxspots.net (CC Cluster node, south-central USA)
ve7cc.net (CC Cluster node, British Columbia, Canada)
dx.w1nr.net (DX Spider, Massachusetts)
GB7DNS (CC Cluster at IP 81.149.0.149, United Kingdom)

By including ve1dxi.no-ip.com as one of the spot sources, you get all the above -- which consists of all of NA and combines the three most common cluster types (CC Cluster, AR Cluster and DX Spider.) In addition, it sucks spots from DX Summit via IRC channel irc.radiochat.org.

That means you will likely will get every spot made in NA, most from western EU many that originate in AS. All from a single source.

Of course, you still have the option of using some or all of the ones Dave listed to augment it even further.

If this doesn't get you enough spots, I don't know what will.

Re: Best Spot Sources

I like to use gb7djk.dxcluster.net (port 7300) and jk1zrw.dyndns.org (port
7300), as they're a bit quicker with European and Asian spots respectively.
For the other two DXCluster slots, its generally whatever I helped debug
most recently. At the moment, I'm using dxspots.com (port 23) and
dxc.ve7cc.net (port 23).

I also recommend the DX Summit web cluster, which is accessible via IRC. Set
the Host address to Windsor.UK.EU.WorldIRC.Org, the Channel to CQDX, and the
Robot to DXS. You'll also need to specify your Username and First name.

Dave.....I downloaded the latest LOTW database to another folder & then copy
& pasted that file into the proper database folder. I had the newer file
overwrite the older file & everything is FB.

I'm glad you found a way to get the LotW database. When you have some
time, we should figure out why DXView can't download it directly. My bet is
on your firewall or some other anti-malware application that is preventing
DXView from downloading a .mdb file.

Dave, how do I get the Log portion of DXKeeper to recognize the country &
state of each QSO in the displayed Log? I've gotten every other column in
the log ok using the config part of the software, but can't find the correct
one to display the country of each QSO. I have the "call" & the DXCC
"prefix" but can't get DxKeeper to recognize the country in the log display
page.

By "recognize", I assume you mean "display". There is no way to include
the full entity name in a Log Page Display entry (they consume too much
horizontal space), but if you configure the "Log Page Display" panel (Config
window, Log tab) to include the DXCCPREFIX field, then letting your mouse
cursor hover over a Log Page Display entry's DXCC Prefix for a second or two
will produce a popup window that display the full entity name.

To display the Primary Administrative Subdivision for each entry in the
Log Page Display ("state" for US stations), configure the "Log Page Display"
panel to include the STATE field.

Also, when uploading to LOTW, do I have to make the tq8 file, or does
DxKeeper do all of that if I have things configured ok?

DXKeeper takes care of creating the TQ8 file, uploading it, and verifying
that its been accepted by LotW. Take a look at the topics in

<http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/QSLingLotW>

LotW is rather unforgiving, so don't be reticent to post questions here
before initiating your first "Upload to LotW".

PS---- would be very cool if you can somehow have DxKeeper display the new
QSO's at the top instead of the bottom in a later version!!!

I recently added this option to SpotCollector because several new DXLab
users were used to seeing it that way in a previous application they were
using. Is there any logging application that displays log pages in
descending chronological order?

Windows only permits a window to be moved if its on-screen. So the Launcher's Reset function -- the court of last resort for "lost" windows -- makes them all visible.

There's a less drastic approach for recovering an "invisible" window that still has an icon on Task bar:

Hi Dave -

I'd appreciate your comments on the following.

I usually have all DXKeeper applications running except PropView and WinWarbler with two monitors. This morning I wasn't able to see one of the DX SpotSources, so I clicked on Reset on the DXLab Launcher to return the missing window to the main screen. That worked OK, but I also found the following screens opened: SpotCollector Statistics, an Unknown SpotCollector window (inactive), spotcollector Origin filter, Spotcollector Log Selector, SpotCollector Mode filter, Macros window, a "blank" window showing Title: (with a data entry box), and OK and Cancel buttons, IRC window, Solar & Geomagnetic Parameters, spotCollector SQL filter, spotCollector Autohide filter, Spotcollector continent Filter, spotcollector Configuration, Welcome to SpotCollector (with my location not checked), spotcollector Band filter, Pathfinder RAC settings, Pathfinder 4.5.6 loading DXC... (displaying PY ZZ),Pathfinder: downloading search library upda... title bar only(unable to expand the window),Search Editor, Pathfinder Configuration, DXView Sunrise/Sunset window (29-Mar-2009 date displayed, with no data), DXView configuration, DXView world Map (usually closed - I use DXAtlas), Blank window with only a flag in the upper right corner (black, yellow, red), DXCC Database, DXKeeper Print Preview, DXKeeper Automatic Progress Update window (displaying Recomputing progress for (and nothing else), DXKeeper Field Editor, DXKeeper configuration, DXKeeper Advanced sorts, DXKeeper Address Editor, Commander User-defined command sequence, ! Commander window (with blank text window) with note (strike the <enter> key to insert into captured message display when next message arrives),Commander:Message buffer is full (message capture has been disabled), Commander Memory Notes (with blank text window) and Insert timestamp button, Commander: Operation did not complete within expected interval (with Operation, Expected Bytes, Received Bytes, and Time all blank), Commander: Transceiver command rejected (with ccommand and Time blank), Commander Messages (with title bar displaying messages) with the Capture and display messages unchecked, and commander configuration.

I closed the extraneous windows, and pressed Reset again, and the windows returned. I'd like to confirm that this is the expected behaviour. I didn't expect closed windows to be opened by pressing Reset.

I have DXLab Launcher 1.6.5, commander 7.7.2, DXKeeper 7.6.2, DXView 3.1.8, Pathfinder 4.5.6, PropView 1.4.6, SpotCollector 4.7.8, and WinWarbler 6.3.6.

Thanks!

73, bob WB2NVR
