Controlling winkeyer usb from commander?

Gary Slagel

Should I be able to display and control my Winkeyer USB from commander or do I need to use Winwarbler?   I'm not using any digital modes so I don't run Winwarbler.  Commander displays the keyer speed at 16wpm but does it does not change and I don't see a way to control the speed from commander.   Thanks for any input!  Gary/KT0A

Re: TQSL option to use grid and other data from ADIF

+ AA6YQ comments below

I am not sure I am asking this the right way. I do many many POTA activations and its really tedious to have to create a station location and then a matching QTH in DXKeeper for LOTW uploads.

I heard there was some feature in TQSL that allowed LOTW to use the grid, state info from the ADIF file.

+ Correct: open TQSL, go to the preferences pane, select the "Log Handling" tab, and then click on "Override Station Location with QTH details from your log". According to TQSL developer Rick K1MU, TQSL will then ignore the information in the selected Station Location and instead use the information in the QSO's MY_GRIDSQUARE, MY_COUNTRY, MY_STATE, MY_COUNTRY items - but I have not personally tested this.

You no longer have to create a new station location for roaming operations.

+ On DXKeeper's "Export QSOs" tab, check the Options panel's "Export ADIF for LoTW" and "Export QTH definitions" boxes.

I log my POTA activations using Aclog from N3FJP, but my main station log is DXLabs, and has been for 12 years. But entering hundreds of contacts is so much faster in ACLOG.

+ If you are initially logging your QSOs on paper (as opposed to logging them with a portable computer), use this technique to rapidly enter them form your paper log into DXKeeper:

https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxkeeper/Help/LogCompletedMain.htm

+ Familiarizing yourself with the available keyboard shorts will accelerate the process:

https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxkeeper/Help/KeyboardShortcuts.htm#Main%20window%20shortcuts

So I use that to create my ADIF that I send to POTA, and then import the contacts into DXKeeper. But I have to create a station and QTH first.

+ You will have to create and populate a myQTH in DXKeeper for each park from which you operate, but the above technique should eliminate the need to create a new "Station Location" in TQSL for each park.

Thanks a lot, Steve, to make me aware of this new feature and to Dave for implementing this. Luckily I can still separate the red and green dots in the spot sources but I see my ability of separating the colours degrading year by year when I have to do the color test for my yearly renewal of my drivers license. Therefore it's a question of age at the end as well if you will need this option or not to make the life easier.

Interesting question...

Perhaps there is a smoother way to do this? Do I really need to create stations locations for every park? Right now I just do county and state since its a bit of a pain to do each park, and I really don't want that many station locations in my system (over a hundred).

Re: User Define Control Yaesu FTdx101MP

Dave AA6YQ

I've been looking for a User Define Control for a while but I can't get it to work I hope someone from the group can help me with this?
Here I work with a Yaesu FTdx101MP
I would like to add a button to the user-Define_Controls.
That should then set the FTdx101MP to 5 watts and then back to 75 watts back in CW mode.
So when I click on that button that my transmitter sends out 5 watts to tune an external antenna tuner.
Now I hope someone has already made this or someone who will help me make a Tune button!

+ As a first step, take a look at this Command Sequence:

https://groups.io/g/DXLab/files/Command%20Sequences%20and%20Sliders/Yaesu/FTDX-101/Sequences/ftdx101d_powersteps60.txt

+ As a second step, modify the above sequence to toggle between two power levels instead of four: 5 watts, and 75 watts. Let me know when you have this working.

+ As a third step, identity the CAT commands for switching between RX and TX, for setting the mode to CW.

+ As a fourth step, insert the CW, RX, and TX commands into your sequence.

SpotCollector 9.0.8 is available

Dave AA6YQ

If you are using Windows Defender anti-malware, direct it to update its definitions from

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/definitions

before you install SpotCollector 9.0.8

This release

- correctly saves "Initial Cluster Command Enable" checkbox settings between operating sessions

- prevents Telnet DXClusters from spontaneously disconnecting

- prevents the generation of several errorlog.txt file entries

- provides an Ann/Talk checkbox in the upper-left corner of each Telnet DXCluster's spot source window that mirrors its Ann/Talk
checkbox in the "Telnet DXCluster" panel on the Configuration window's "Spot Sources" tab (tnx to Joe W4TV)

- adds a "Pre-filter Skimmer spots only" option to the Pre-filtering window (tnx to Joe W4TV)

- updates the ConfigurationSources.htm, CQDXInteraction.htm, DXClusterInteraction.htm, PacketInteraction.htm, Prefiltering.htm, and
SpotDatabase.htm documentation files

Re: Slider "Function Field" Does not Appear when Hovering over Slider Label

+ AA6YQ comments below

No change. Nothing displays. I also tried changing the Config value "Show within Main window" and "Show by expanding Main window." Neither choice affects the issue. Strange thing is, the labels for the User-defined Controls immediately above the sliders display function properly when hovered over. All other fields in the Commander window display guidance when hovered over. This is not a huge issue since it does not affect the functionality of the sliders. I'm thinking a debug session won't help, but if you think it will, I'd be glad to do one and provide it to you.

+ There's no way for any application to know whether or not Windows is displaying a tooltip - so an errorlog would not shed any light on the situation.

+ Is anyone else experiencing the absence of tooltips (explanatory popups) in Commander's user-defined sliders?

SC 9.0.6 and colorblindness

Stephen Rabinowitz

This new version of Spot Collector is working beautifully for me. It connects quickly with all of the selected spot sources and stays connected. It adds pre-filter options to those previously available. From one session to the next it recalls initial cluster commands.
One accessability enhancement that has received little attention is a boon to the colorblind. One in twelve men has difficulty in distinguishing red from green, especially if the items are small. I for one could not make sense of the spot source status dots on the main screen. Dave has solved the problem by enabling the connected status to be shown in blue rather than green. The choice is located at the bottom of the Spot Sources tab.
Many thanks to Dave for this option.

Commander will control the rig but nothing gets through the stationmaster to switch the antenna. This only happens after a relatively long period of time so I wonder if some port has gone to sleep.
4) What is the "Command Interval" in Commander? I use 160ms with

I thought there was a com log for the SM but I do not seem to see

5) There is: Router -> Ports, click the Set button for the CAT port.
You will see "CAT Communications Log" in the bottom 2/3 of that screen.
Operation is described in the Station Master Users Manual (pg 22).

I've had two clusters running and each filtered at CC User. They have been working FB for several weeks and during today's NA QSO CW Party only one of the two sites is being displayed consistently in SC.
I've tried each of them individually and they then display just fine, but once I enable the other they don't seem or want to play nice.
I have a good throttle on the clusters at CC User. Only feed CW and not a full fire hose.
No pre-filters in SC are set. I've also done Ctrl X to remove any filters as well.
Using slots 2 & 3 in SC for the two clusters.

+ As has been reported here, there's a defect in SpotCollector 9.0.5 that causes spot sources to be disconnected. I have corrected this defect, and initial reports from users testing a version of SpotCollector with this defect repair have been positive so far. I have submitted the new version to Microsoft for security screening; barring an adverse user test report, expect to make a public release tomorrow.

+ I have sent you email explaining how to obtain the new version.
