Re: Icom 7300 Command to Expand Display

John

I would like to perform the function of the EXPD/SET soft button on the bottom right corner of the display which selects a tall waterfall with short text above it or a short waterfall with large text above it.

When I close the Commander window the program dissappears from the screen as it should, but when I try to restart Commander it get a message that the program is already running. I have to go into task manager and end the program task there before I can restart Commander. Is this a known issue?

+ I don't recall anyone reporting that behavior in the last several years. Is there an errorlog.txt file in your Commander folder? If so, please attach it to an email message, and send the message to me via

+ If not, please do the following:

1. on the General tab of Commander's Configuration window, check the "Log debugging info" box

2. terminate Commander

3. start Commander

4. on the General tab of Commander's Configuration window, uncheck the "Log debugging info" box

well it worked when i shut down yesturday . today my win 7 pro unit dxlab unit gave me the following error.
dxview said there were updates for lotw and eqsl. went there did the eqsl no problem.
went to lotw got there the upload then go the following message

unable to open database
unrecgnized file format

'C:\dxlab\dxview\databases\lotw.mdb."

went to the databases and found this as the last entry

C:\DXLab\DXView\Databases\LotW 2021-09-19.mdb;

Found this in the dxview config . page under the installed heading all show the date of install but dxview is blank ?

i know i can do an fresh install of dxview but that seems a long way around a problem.

+ There is likely nothing wrong with DXView; re-installing it would only risk creating new problems.

+ Evidently, the updated LoTW database was corrupted during downloading to your computer, or saving on your computer. To correct this,

1. terminate DXView, DXKeeper, and SpotCollector

2. delete the file

C:\dxlab\dxview\databases\lotw.mdb

3. Start DXView; on the Configuration window's Databases tab, direct DXView to install the LoTW database

I've noticed what I think is a new problem here with my system - after I do a full shutdown or reboot of my system (Ryzen 7 5800, SSD drives, 64GB RAM) the initial startup of any DXLabs application takes several minutes.  This issue appears to be unique to DXLabs apps as all other apps seem to start up just fine.  I had the problem with Windows 10 and after updating to Windows 11 it's still there.  Resource Monitor indicates that the system (CPU, Network and Disk) are not busy.  The apps show up in Task Manager indicating they are not using any resources.  Once things get going, I can shut down and restart the DXLabs apps and they start up just fine.

I will acknowledge that the problem is most likely somewhere on my side of the fence, but I am out of ideas as to where to look.  Any ideas as to what might be causing this would be appreciated.

OK - I did as Laurie and Joe suggested and the filtering no longer takes place, however that does not answer the original question which was why does unchecking the "Display previous QSOs on Lookup" box on the Config - General tab not also accomplish the same thing?

+ The "Display previous QSOs on Lookup" box on the Configuration window's General tab governs DXKeeper's behavior when a lookup operation is initiated by a DXLab application. Applications like JTAlert provide independent control over the lookup operations they initiate.

Maybe I am slow, but what I am interested is the special events stations, and highlighting those.

I can see that club log Dl info from clublog, but I don't see how one can Dl a list of those special event stations that are active?

+ I'm not aware of any downloadable lists of "Special Event Stations".

+ If you can find such a list, use a spreadsheet application to put it into the format that can be loaded into SpotCollector's "Special Callsigns" list, as described here:

2021 October 2 night, my system was working fine upon shutdown.  The next morning, WSJT would not transmit......again, DXCommander, and my rotor control quit.
After working on WSJT for hours and checking different sources, one thing I was finding was that Windows update was/could be the cause.
Now, looking back, this happens about monthly to me. The Error file for DXCommander said Buffer Overflow.  I did a full Defender virus check which
found exactly nothing.  I had reloaded each program without a working FT8 system and I had tried to redo the settings.  This time was the worst so far.

I know enough about Windows 8.1 (my ham computer) to get me in trouble.  8.1 updates has been turned off a long time ago.  Radio:  Yaesu FTDX-10.

The short version, I was lucky and there was a System Restore point a day earlier.  Nothing to loose, I thought.  System restore it was.  On WSJT,
I had to redo the General Tab including my call and info and the Audio Tab settings.  Commander and HyGain DCU-3 had to redo their Com settings to match.

As of now, all seems to be working.  What can be done to stop the monthly trouble with Windows?  What setting(s) am I missing?

+ The behavior you report could be the result of a defect in Windows 8, or a hardware failure. Have you checked the Windows event logs?

I do not think you are explaining your situation correctly as
both Laurie (VK3AMA -author of JT Alert) and I read this as a
configuration issue with JTAlert.
