I really like the DXLab Suite and use it daily.

Is there a place to make a donation to help keep this project going?

+ Thanks for the kind thoughts, but I develop DXLab because I enjoy developing software in collaboration with users. Thus I do not accept donations.

+ If you just have to make a donation, I recommend St. Jude's Children's Hospital, as they do excellent work with modest administrative overhead.

+ On the "DXLab Apps" tab of the Launcher's Configuration window, clicking Commander's Restore button will restore the executable
file, but I suspect that your anti-malware application will quarantine it again unless you first declare it to be "safe".

Re: DXKeeper Second Callsign LotW

I have agreed to handle QSLing for our club callsign.  I created a new log in DXKeeper, in addition to my personal log, and imported all the QSOs from various contests.

My issue is LotW.  My DXKeeper personal log is updated to LotW.  I have TQSL and it has my callsign certificate.  Many of the QSOs in the club log have already been uploaded to LotW, I am told, but none show as uploaded in the imported files.

My question - are there step-by-step instructions for adding this second callsign to LotW and updating the log using DXKeeper?

+ See "Sharing DXLab Among Multiple Users on the Same PC" in

https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/MultipleUsers

+ and substitute "your club" for "your XYL". (Yes, it's a great straight line, but please leave it alone).

Re: Adding new contests?

I'm in the middle of getting used to the DXLabs suite (having previously used SwissLog, and a custom log database before that), and I am used to using N1MM+ for contests, which I import into DXKeeper afterwards. Is there a mechanism for adding new contests to DXKeeper, or should I just let it import whatever contest id N1MM+ puts into the log? I've noticed that there are some contests where the contest id that N1MM+ uses is different from the id that DXKeeper uses (e.g. CWOPS CWT), so I'm used to using the Contest Id replacement in the import for those. I'm just wondering if I need to worry about contests that DXK doesn't have an id for.

+ DXKeeper's ContestID selectors are pre-populated with the ContestIDs specified by ADIF:

http://adif.org.uk/311/ADIF_311_annotated.htm#Contest_ID

+ but you can type in any contest identifier that you wish.

Commander 15.0.9 is available

Dave AA6YQ

If you are using Window Defender Antivirus (Windows 10), update it to its latest malware definition in

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/definitions

before installing or upgrading to Commander 15.0.9

This release

- updates CW speed shown in Main window's Mode panel when it changes (tnx to Norm KC1BMD)

- correctly display spectrum data from an Icom transceiver if started with low-pass filtering enabled with a value of 1 (tnx to
Floyd K9AC)

- when controlling an Elecraft K3, KX3, or KX2 whose firmware supports the SW command, display the SWR while transmitting (tnx to
Phil F5PHW and Greg VK3VT)

- updates the TXMeter.htm documentation file

Notes

1. in this version, the Secondary CAT Port's "CAT Protocol" selector can be set to "FlexRadio PGXL", but this is not yet working
correctly with a FlexRadio PGXL amplifier.

2. Update your firewall and anti-malware applications to consider this new version of Commander to be "safe"

- 0 of 56 antivirus scanners accessible via Virus Total detected malware <https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload>

- 0 of 15 antivirus scanners accessible via Jotti detected malware <https://virusscan.jotti.org/>

- submitted for online analysis by Microsoft Windows Defender: no malware detected

3. If this upgrade doesn't work correctly, see the "After an Upgrade" section of
http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/ApplicationStoppedWorking

4. After upgrading, to revert to the previous version of Commander, see
http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/RevertApplicationVersion

Commander 15.0.9 is available via the DXLab Launcher and via

If you value being wireless higher than having access to the waterfall I
can recommend using the Bluetooth serial port.

If your computer does not already have it, a dongle is just a few dollars.

I can operate my IC-705 completely wireless, that is without a USB connection to the computer.
The WLAN in the 705 can act as an access point and it works great for audio, keying . . . anything.
Is there anything in the works to allow DXLab to operate without a teather (USB) via the WLAN?

+ There's nothing in the works, Peter. Besides saving the $10 cost of the USB A-B cable, what would be the benefit?

I can read mode ok, no problem.

+ That's because Commander uses the IF and OI CAT commands to track VFO A's frequency and mode and VFO B's frequency and mode, respectively. It does not use the MD commands, and thus is immune to the "MD command is rejected" regression in the latest FTDX-101 firmware release.

I am trying to eliminate the USB because it causes a massive spike in noise when I use it with my MS Surface Pro in the field (POTA) That's funny though I am not that cheap for the cable's sake. Next is try some kind of choke on the USB cable.

+ If the choke isn't sufficient, take a look at the grounding among your system components.

The 705 has two network modes.

1. It can be easily configured as an Access Point (connect to a PC or phone) as a network source. This connection of course does not provide internet connectivity to the corresponding phone/PC.
2. It can also be configured as a Station and connect to your home/hotspot internet just like any device (PC/phone) and gain internet access. Making it very fun to do digital modes and terminal modes.

In all good fun I would also make a case for . . . "it's the future". It will be very entertaining to see what innovations come of this IC-705 feature.

+ Little will come of the "remote control" capability unless and until Icom documents the protocol. At present, they are in "optimize sales of RS-BA1" mode.

+ Commander has long interacted with Flex Signature radios via an Ethernet connection.

Dave, AA6YQ
