Thanks all.I wasn't sure how deep I was going to get into it but at some point I may get into printing cards and all.I'll check the sections you described.

+ In the mean time, if your QSO partner asks you to send a QSL card,

- if you're logging via DXKeeper's Capture window, check the "QSL Requested" box before clicking the Log button

- if you're logging via the "Log QSOs" tab of DXKeeper's Main window, click the QSL panel's RR button (if you want a card in return) or set the QSL panel's Sent selector to 'R' (if you don't want a card in return) before clicking the "Log" button

- if you're logging via WinWarbler's "Log QSO" panel, check its QSL box before clicking the "Log" button

- if you're logging via another application, then after the QSO has been logged in DXKeeper, on the "Log QSOs" tab of DXKeeper's Main window, click the QSL panel's RR button (if you want a card in return) or set the QSL panel's Sent selector to 'R' (if you don't want a card in return) and then click the "Save" button.

What Joe described is exactly what you want. As you work someone you can set that if you want to send a QSL card. That way when you go to the QSl tab and select your option for QSl cards or label, when you click the add requested button it will add all QSOs for which you have it set to "R".

This also covers you for response cards, when you receive a card that asks for a QSL card, you can set it to "R" (either manually or via some of the automated methods), and the next time you prepare to print cards/labels, it will be included for printing.

After you have printed your cards/labels you would then click the Update Log button on the QSL queue and DXKeeper wouldupdate all of those records from R to Y indicating that you have sent the card.

Joe - Tnx for the explanation. So your reply tells me the parenthesis and single quote marks around each call are required in all cases.

+ for simple expressions like

band='80m'

+ or

name = 'Joe'

+ parentheses are not required. For more complex queries, like

(band = '80m') and (name = 'Joe')

+ it;s best to use parentheses to make the order of operations explicit; they're free!

+ This expression using wildcard characters requires no parentheses:

Comment like '*photographer*'

+ but "multiple choice" expressions do require parentheses:

band in ('160m','80m','40m')

Joe is exactly right.  One big caution....Richmond CITY is nowhere near Richmond COUNTY.  In reality they are about 60 air miles apart. The duplicate naming has to do with the English settlers well over 300 years ago.

The chart that Joe provided is correct that Richmond CITY is bordered only by Henrico and Chesterfield counties.  Yeah, I lived in Chesterfield for a number of years and this topic came up more than once.  By the way the Virginia QSO Party is coming up soon, the weekend of March 20-21.  Search VAQP for the rules.  I hope y'all will join us!

Re: Spot Collector Email Alarm ?

With multiple elements, the correct syntax is:

Callsign in ('C91BVA', ZF2BJ', 'PJ7AA', 'LY11LY') or
Callsign like ('*/KH9') or Callsign like ('KH9*')

"in" expects a list of discrete elements (individual calls),
"like" supports wildcards (incomplete calls).

Alexandria City is an "independent city" - not a county.

See the DXLab WiKi topic on tracking USA-CA awards:
<http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/USCountyStatus>

Pay special attention to the link in "independent cities"

Re: CQ 160 SSB contest submit problem

+ AA6YQ comments below:

Basic user here and setup for contest and went ok as logged thru the capture
window and could log and change exchanges as necessary.

Went to print the Cabrillo report and it did not include the state/prov but did include
the 59 part of the exchange. Noticed in the DXKeeper window and Log QSOs tab
all the info is there except not in the area where all the qsos are shown. I only have
a few of the columns I normally want there. I assume (hate that Hi.) that I need the exchange
for state/prov there also which I do not have in there.

What do I need to add or check-mark to get the report to add them. Also agn assume need to
do a manual scoring of results or other items like times off.  Most all else seems ok.

+ Instructions for recording exchange information are provided in the large table in

https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxkeeper/Help/Contesting.htm

+ The third paragraph of this section of the reference documentation is importantant:

"Making a few test QSOs before the contest and verifying that a proper Cabrillo log can be generated is strongly recommended."

+ DXLab's support for contesting is limited supporting DXers who participate in contests in search of "new ones", and do their part by providing accurate exchanges and by submitting checklogs.

+ Serious contesters in search of rate and scoring information should use a contesting application. Many serious contesters employ N1MM, and then import their contest QSOs into DXKeeper after the contest is over. Some contests use the N1MM-DXKeeper bridge to convey each contest QSO to DXKeeper as it is logged in N1MM.

I use to have one card layout from my home qth and one from my summer house.

Is it possible to save the layouts for later use?

+ Yes:

1. terminate DXKeeper

2. save DXKeeper's settings to a Workspace named "HomeQTH"

3. start DXKeeper and configure it for your summer QSL cards

4. terminate DXKeeper

5. save DXKeeper's settings to a Workspace named "SummerQTH"

6. next summer, terminate DXKeeper and load its settings from your "SummerQTH" Workspace

I am not an avid DX/Contester and was just wondering if this would be a useful enhancement for anyone but me who is primarily using DXLab (Commander) for rig control and simple logging. That's not the primary audience for the DXLab Suite but I thought I would ask.

+ To be clear, DXLab's primary objectives are

1. support for DXing
2. support for general operation

+ DXLab is not focused on

1. serious contesting
2. remote operation

+ My priorities are

1. answering questions posted here
2. keeping the backlog of reported but uncorrected defects at 0
3. enhancing DXLab's support for its primary objectives
