Re: DXKeeper install in new PC: QSL LotW & eQSL status not shown

I have installed DXKeper on a new computer. It's up to date. Settings seem to be the same in both computers. I exported the RSO's from my old computer by doing an "stadard adif" export. Then, imported the file in the new PC. + You could have simply made a copy of your Log file and moved the copy to the new computer. This is step 3.b in <https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/MovingBetweenPCs> LotW and eQSL status of the QSO is not showing in the new PC. I tried the "Sync LotW QSL" and it didn't change anything. I tried "Update from LotW" and it's doing it, but really slowly. For eQSL, I tried "Sync eQSL. cc QSL" and nothing changed for the eQSL status of the QSOs. Whar I'm doin wrong? Is there another exporting procedure that would inlude QSL statuts data? (I thought tthe "standard adif" procedure should keep them, but perhaps I'm wrong) Could you please help me with this issue? + So that I can see what's going on, please attach the ADIF file that you imported into DXKeeper on your new computer to an email message, and send the message to me via aa6yq (at) ambersoft.com 73, Dave, AA6YQ

+ How would DXKeeper determine the callsign's US County? Yes, Dave, that is exactly what I was looking for, “recuperate” the U.S “County” name (i.e. the “sec sub”) appearing in the DxKeeper pane “Award” * There is no source from which DXKeeper can obtain that information, Carlo. You must either ask your QSO partner during the QSO, or wait for a confirmation that specifies the US County; in both cases, you must enter the information manually into the logged QSO. 73, Dave AA6YQ

I did this recently, using Dave's instructions, and it worked flawlessly. NOTE: If you use LoTW be sure to make a backup of your certifications and station location(s) from the TQSL interface! I neglected to do that, and ended up having to request a new certificate. Not a huge deal, but slightly annoying. ;-) + Those instructions do cite this article: <https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/LotWMoveToAnotherPC> 73, Dave, AA6YQ

Re: How to show new state confirmations on LoTW QSL Sync

Is there a way to have LoTW QSL Sync show new state confirmations in the Notepad popup? On the QSL Config dialog, General tab, I have WAS checked under the "Awards" section, but I still don't see new state confirmations in the popup when I sync. I DO get new country confirmations. + The after-action report generated by the "Sync LoTW QSLs" function highlights newly-confirmed DXCC entities, VUCC grid squares, WAS states, WAZ zones, and WPX prefixes. + Note that a QSO with a US state that is confirmed via LoTW is only counts as a WAS confirmation if your QSO partner specified his or her state in the "Station Location" used to submit your QSO. This is indicated by the presence of the letter S in the QSO's "LoTW Cfm" item, which is accessible in the "Online QSL" panel on the Main window's "Log QSOs" tab: <https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxkeeper/Help/Items.htm#LotW%20cfm> + If you believe that you have a situation where an LoTW confirmation did confirm a new state but failed to do so, please describe it. 73, Dave, AA6YQ

Thank you both for responding! Excellent. I may write up a sliders and sequencers file as I did a long time ago for the IC756-ProIII. I would include the suggestion from Dave if I do.

No difficulty obtaining a "DXCC count" with DXkeeper.
I used my DXkeeper log and tools - with LoTW - to apply for & earn 5-Band DXCC + DXCC for the 3 WARC bands. Flawless software performance.
Dave developed & supports a fabulous suite of Ham Radio software.

Dang - tried to post a rebuttal but since I’ve already posted an eHAM DXLS review (in response to another oddly misinformed contribution), it will only let me edit that. As it happens I addressed his objections in general in that review for whatever it's worth now.

I’m always confused by reviews like this. The things this person is complaining about are 1) VERY easy to find and use without any help at all and, 2) even if they weren’t are totally explained in also very easy to find and understand documentation. And any effort would lead to this forum where Dave himself is as good as right next door to help. What reference could they possibly be comparing to that’s more or better than that ? Especially considering the pretty lousy software state-of-the-art we all deal with day in and day out. DXLS is like a tall, cool glass of ice water in the middle of a bone dry baking hot desert. If only Dave were responsible for Flex Radio software for example …(sorry for the nightmarish image that must conjure up Dave). Glad others were able to address it directly. Russ KR6W

Re: IC-7000 data operations
Dave AA6YQ

It's been a while since I hooked up my IC-7000 and I have a couple questions about data mode operations I'm hoping to get answered. I'm currently primarily running an IC-7610. I remember my IC-756ProIII had data modes, but I forget a lot these days. ;) On the IC-7000, there is no 'data' mode. I'm using a US Interface (Now Timewave) 'Navigator'' which plugs into the accessory plug in the back and not through the mic jack interface. Is the mic 'hot' when transmitting, or does the radio automagically recognize what I'm doing and leave the mic closed if not keyed from the jack? + To my knowledge, connecting to the audio signals in an Icom transceiver's backpanel Accessory connectors does not silence the microphone. You can confirm this empirically. Similarly, I assume compression and TBW so forth need to be manually set/unset? + Correct. + To automate this, you could setup Command Sequences that when activated optimize your IC-7000 for CW, SSB, or digital mode operation. For example, you can enable or disable speech compression using the 16 44 command, documented on page 143 of the IC-7000 Instruction Manual. 73, Dave, AA6YQ

Re: IC-7000 data operations
Joe Subich, W4TV
Is the mic 'hot' when transmitting,Yes. Icom transceivers that do not have a data mode and lack the Set Mode command to select audio input in the DATA mode all leave the mic and ACC jack "hot" at the same time. The only exception is those transceivers that have a separate "DATA" jack (Mini DIN 6). For the DATA jack, the data audio is selected when the data jack PTT is activated. 73, ...
