Re: No AZ Angle Look-up in DXKeeper Capture Window

No, I have successfully connected an antenna rotator. Its a Green Heron RT-21D controlling a Yaesu G-1000. DXV finds it and controls it perfectly. The heart of my question regards the AZ field in the Capture window always populating with 0 however, even though DXV finds the angle (so its findable).

+ The idea is to log your antenna's actual azimuth, not the great circle azimuth -- which DXView will compute and display when you select any logged QSO, whether that QSO specifies an azimuth or not.

+ A few more questions before I can answer yours:

1. Does the Heading panel on DXView's Info (Main) window display your current antenna azimuth?

2. What letters appear between the square brackets in the title bar of DXKeeper's Main window?

The other part of my question is, is it possible to automatically point the rotator to a station I've started a QSO with having entered their call in the Capture window and hit Enter (producing a lookup).

+ No, because DXView wouldn't know whether to rotate your antenna to the short path or long path heading. Click the SP or LP button on DXView's Main window to initiate rotation.

+ You can simultaneously initiate rotation when you double-click a Spot Database Entry by depressing the CTRL key to initiate a rotation to the short path heading or the ALT key to initiate rotation to the long path heading.

WIN4K3, Nap3 and a few others use the 192 khz Q/I audio for their spectrum

Anyway, just wondering.   I was going to experiment with it and it wasn't there for the K3

WSJT 2.12 . I want put some number in the report box without JT alert because I  have had little luck getting  alert to work
properly and consistently. When JT alert works it interfaces with your program great.  I would not care about the 599 except for
QSLing.

+ WSJT-X can directly interoperate with DXLab, as described here:

<https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/GettingStartedwithK1JTModesDirect>

+ When you log a QSO via WSJT-X, a signal report is always included.

+ For QSOs logged via DXKeeper's Capture window or the Main window's "Log QSOs" tab, checking the "Initialize RST items to 59/599"
box at the top of the Configuration window's General tab will preset the signal reports to 599 when logging a digital mode QSO.

FW: Topband: Three day forecast of the Planetary Kp Index now available online

Dave AA6YQ

Daily variability of HF propagation is caused in large part by solar energetic particle radiation carried by the solar wind,
especially during the four years closest to solar minimum when x-ray and proton radiation from solar flares are less frequent and
less intense.

The three-hourly Planetary Kp Index uses geomagnetic measurements from 13 observatories at mid-latitudes to indirectly measure solar
energetic particle radiation. The Planetary Kp Index is a proxy measurement of the energy input from the solar wind to Earth,
similar to the use of the 2800 MHz Solar Flux Index as a proxy for the Sun's ionizing ultraviolet radiation.

A three day -- updated every three hours -- forecast of the Planetary Kp Index is now available from the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam -
GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.

Re: Spectrum Waterfall

Do I understand correctly that the spectrum waterfall only works with Icom.

+ Commander can provides a Spectrum-Waterfall window when controlling an Icom 7300, 7610, 7851, and 9700:

<http://www.dxlabsuite.com/commander/Help/Spectrum-Waterfall.jpg>

+ When the IC-705 instruction manual becomes available in English, I expect that extending Commander to support that radio will include Spectrum-Waterfall support.

If that is the case, why cannot DXL access the sound card in the computer that is using LPPAN as an IF source from a K3.

+ The Icom transceivers listed above can all be directed to provide spectrum data via the Icom CI-V bus. The differences among these transceivers are minor, and easily parametized so that the same code works with all of them.

+ Commander can also display active callsigns on a Flex SmartSDR panadaptor, enabled by a programmatic interface that accepts these callsigns.

+ LPPAN is one of many panadaptors, each different. My plan is to provide interoperation with a panadaptor that works with a low-cost SDR like the SDRPlay RSP family.

Because the Icom waterfall is not "raw" soundcard audio. It is
"packaged" within the CI-V (CAT) command set and Commander is
using the Icom protocol. Dave has indicated that he will eventually
support alternatives for non-Icom (and non-Flex) owners but there is
a significant development cost in doing so.

No previous QSO with OD5KU.  When I attempt to modify the entry with the CBA button in DXKeeper, there is no change.  But the QRZ XML lookup is correct as you point out. Ed,

What does the QSO after this one look like in the DXK log, does it have the same name & address information? If so, than you likely started a new QSO in WSJT-X (DX Call got changed) before you had completed the logging of the OD5KU QSO in WSJT-X. Changing the DX Call triggers JTAlert to perform a new XML lookup and the data from that lookup was used with the subsequently received logged QSO message from WSJT-X. Keep in mind, that until you "OK" the QSO in the WSJT-X in the "Log QSO" window, JTAlert is totally unaware you have a logging pending.

- Yes doing those steps in that order, now the entries in SC are  CW only.

- So in the future if one wants to change to another mode, is it best to follow the steps you listed?
+ You must uncheck all of the boxes in the "Mode Filter" window except the CW box, which should be checked. Clicking the None button may be the fastest way to do that.
