When I check WAC progress it shows only six continents and I am missing Antarctica. But I do have a fully confirmed QSO with a station there where the "cont" item is set to AN. Why isn't it being found even after I do a recompute?

+ So that I can see what's going on, please place your log file (pathname specified in the Log panel at the top of the Configuration window's Log tab) in a zip archive, attach the zip archive to an email message, and send the message to me via

Actually I am incorrect. It isn't picking up the ssb power value and I am not sure where it is getting the power value from.

Dave- The map issue has been around since I reinstalled DxLab after a PC upgrade.
It said ver 11 and  the update button was in bold print, so I clicked it. I am not sure what it said next to Emulation, because I did the update before checking. However clicking on Update Emulation solved the problem, map is now loading properly.
Thank you for the help

Re: DXKeeper QSL Editor Formatting

Hi Dave -

Thanks for considering my request.

No, I've never had mail returned or not delivered because of this format, (mainly because I always revise the format to match what is presented in QRZ.com), or had mail returned because of the superfluous country name (I usually edit the address to remove the U. S. A.).

I can't speak about all printers, but the printers that I have can print the POSTNET bar code.

As I mentioned, these are very low priority requests.

No point in discussing them further.

Using QRZ in Pathfinder. When i go to Detail tab and click on map, the map doesnt load. Just get the the little circle spinning. Didnt see anything in archives on this problem.

+ Is this new behavior, or has this always been the case?

+ In the "Internet Explorer" panel on the Pathfinder's Configuration window,

- what Version is shown?

- what Emulation is shown?

Re: Error in Recompute Actions report

+ AA6YQ comments below

HI Dave....I happen to do a recompute of my award status the other day and a weird error popped up with one callsign

that I had worked back in February in the WPX RTTY test.....NA6O...

The error coming up states Broken: invalid primary or secondary subdivision....changed secondary subdivision

from "blank" to PAC.

I had imported this contest log and the report was a serial number so not sure how this was "changed".

Currently in DXKeeper, when I show this contact, I have two words flashing blue state and county in the Award part

of the logged qso. Beside the state there is a box with PAC in it. Beside the county is also PAC,

How do I fix this?? Can I edit the qso to make the State and county blank?? The guy is in California.

The other Qs from the log I imported have the state and county blank.

+ You evidently have the "Subdivision validity checking" box checked in the "Other Awards" panel on the Configuration window's
Awards tab. That means DXKeeper will inform you when it encounters a logged QSO whose

- primary administrative subdivision (state, province, prefecture, oblast, etc.) is inconsistent with its DXCC entity

- secondary administrative subdivision (county, city/gun, district, etc.) is inconsistent with its primary administrative
subdivision

+ For a station in California, PAC is neither a valid primary subdivision or a valid secondary subdivision; it is a valid ARRL
section. I'm guessing that the ADIF record you imported specified <STATE:3>PAC.

+ According to QRZ, NA6O is in California's Alameda County (though there's no guarantee that that's where he was when you worked
him). For now, set this QSO's State selector to "CA", and its County selector to "CA,Alameda". After you submit the QSO to LoTW, if
NA6O also submit your QSO to LoTW, then when you invoke "Sync LotW QSLs", DXKeeper will report any discrepancy between the State and
County that NA6O specified when he submitted your QSO and what you've logged.

+ If you are submitting a large number of QSOs to LoTW for the first time, then on the "QSL Configuration" window's LoTW tab, set
the "Handling of LoTW QSL detail inconsistencies" panel to "Preserve log data, ignore LoTW data, and report inconsistencies when
operation ends". That will require you to inspect each inconsistency and decide whether what your QSO partner submitted is actually
correct -- but in my opinion there are still too many location errors in what ops submit to LoTW to set the "Handling of LoTW QSL
detail inconsistencies" panel to "Overwrite log data with LoTW data".

1. terminate DXKeeper

2. rename your existing corrupted log file - I'll assume NS9I.mdb  in this post - to NS9I-Corrupted.mdb

3. in DXKeeper's Databases folder, make a copy of the file named UncompactedLog.mdg and rename this copy NS9I.mdb

Re: DXKeeper QSL Editor Formatting

Dave AA6YQ

+ AA6YQ comments below

I have a very low priority issue that I'd like to bring to your attention.

While preparing to send/reply to some paper QSLs (DXKeeper 15.0.8), after adding the Qs to the 2-column labels list, I check the QSL address by double clicking the left most box on each line. When I do that, the DXKeeper QSL Editor opens up, and the mailing address is displayed. In some cases, the State appears on a separate line in the QSL editor, which is different than what is displayed on the QRZ.com page in Pathfinder (5.2.2). Also, there is a comma inserted after the State, and before the Postal Code.

From QRZ.com:

"NIKOLA TESLA" RADIO CLUB E74BYZ, E7TESLA JOVANA DUCICA 36 BANJA LUKA, BA 78000 Bosnia and Herzegovina

From DXKeeper QSL Editor:

"Nikola Tesla" Radio Club E74byz
JOVANA DUCICA 36
BANJA LUKA
BA, 78000
Bosnia and Herzegovina

This doesn't happen to all callsigns that I look up. I'll send you a few more examples directly.

+ DXKeeper employs that format because it works for all destination countries. Have you had mail returned or not delivered because of this format?

I have two more items that I'd find helpful, and would appreciate it if you would add this to the To Do list if you think they're worthwhile.

I'd like to suppress UNITED STATES for those QSLs that are being sent to the US by a US based station

+ That would require extending DXKeeper to let the user specify the country from which your QSLs will be mailed. Have you had mail returned because of the superfluous country name?

It would be nice to add the USPS Postnet barcode. POSTNET (Postal Numeric Encoding Technique) is a barcode symbology used by the United States Postal Service to assist in directing mail. The ZIP Code or ZIP+4 code is encoded in half- and full-height bars. Most often, the delivery point is added, usually being the last two digits of the address or PO box number. When I use my Seiko Label Printer to print an address label, the Postnet barcode is added. It would be great if this could be included when I print outgoing or self addressed envelopes.

+ Can every printer generate bar codes?

+ DXKeeper's QSL-generation mechanism is intentionally utilitarian, providing basic capabilities for the award-chaser who must send many outgoing cards to request needed confirmations. There are applications like BV and QSLMaker that provide more flexibility; if more flexibility is what you need, DXKeeper can generate an ADIF file from the QSL queue from which they will generated QSL cards or labels:

Re: Import QSOs - Preview / Test Run

Dave AA6YQ

+ AA6YQ comments below

Wouldn't an easier way be to set the Selected option on import? If you want to get rid of the imported contacts, you select the 'selected' and delete them.

This assumes you clear the Selected option on all contacts before import.

Doing this from memory so I think 'Selected' is the right term.

+ Every logged QSO has an item named APP_DXKEEPER_SELECT that can be set to Y or N. The Main window's Filter panel provides an Sel button that when clicked, filters the Log Page Display with

APP_DXKEEPER_SELECT='Y'

+ To use this for "un-doable importing", as you suggest, one would do the following on the Main window's "Import QSOs" tab:

1. click the "Clear Select" button (at the bottom of the tab); this sets APP_DXKEEPER_SELECT item of every QSO in your log to N

2. check the "Set Select in import QSOs to Y" box (in the upper-right corner of the tab)

3. initiate the import operation

+ To "undo" the import operation by deleting the imported QSOs, on the Main window's "Log QSOs" tab,

4. click the Filter panel's Sel button to filter the Log Page Display to contain only QSOs with APP_DXKEEPER_SELECT set to Y

5. depress the CTRL key while striking the Delete button to delete all QSOs in the Log Page Display

+ Whether the above procedure is simpler than making a copy of your log file before importing and if necessary implementing "undo" by reverting to that copy is up to the operator. Note that depending on the computer, deleting a lot of QSOs from a log can take more time than copying a file.
