Re: WSJT-X with Commander and Flex Maestro

Joe,
  To use WSJT-X with Flex, you need to have SSDR CAT, and SSDR DAX installed on the same computer as WSJT-X.  The easiest way to install CAT and DAX is to install the whole SSDR package on the PC, which will install DAX & CAT.  You need not run SSDR on the PC.  You can run Maestro to control the radio and run DAX and CAT on the PC to transport audio and control signals to WSJT-X.

As I look at NM1W'a instructions to configure Commander with Flex6400 and WSJT-X, it specified that you need to configure SmartSDR menus.  I use a Maestro with my Flex 6400 and therefore do not have SmartSDR loaded on my network PC.  The menus on my Maestro do not have the choices that he specifies.  Advice?
Thanks,

Were you in TAB1 on the main WSJT-X window?    There is an issue where the exchange is not captured in WSJT-X if you're not on TAB 1.

Hi Neil,

I was on Tab 1, and the exchange is captured automatically in TX Info and RX Info fields in the Contest section in the main QSO Tab.

To use WSJT-X with Flex, you need to have SSDR CAT, and SSDR DAX installed on the same computer as WSJT-X.

+ That's not correct.

+ As described in

<https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/GettingStartedwithK1JTModes>

+ WSJT-X should be configured to use Commander to control the transceiver, which in the case of a Flex Signature it does via SmartSDR's API over a local area network. SmartSDR CAT is superfluous, and should not be running.

+ Unless, of course, you aren't using DXLab. If that's the case, why post on this Discussion Group?

Re: JRC JST-245

The antenna selection is indicated in the same query ("I") used to get the frequency and mode. Here is response format,

Iabdfg
where,
a = 1-3, indicates antenna selected
b = 0-2, indicates selected bandwidth (0-Wide, 1-Intermediate, 2-Narrow)
d = 0-5, indicates the mode selected
f = 8 digits show transmit and receive frequency
g = 0-2, indicates AGC setting

The meter readings can be obtained with a M command. I tried the command using the Message Monitoring tool. Adding H1 before the meter command and a H0 after. I tried it with M in receive and the S-meter value was returned. I did not try the meter commands in transmit so far.

+ Thanks.

+ Commander does not display antenna selection for any supported transceiver. For most radios that can switch among multiple antenna connectors, this would be consuming scarce screen real estate to replicate information already displayed on the radio's front panel.

+ In order to display a JST-245's S-meter and a selected transmit meter, Commander will have to know whether the radio is receiving or transmitting, which its currently not the case. I will extend Commander to do this, and send you this extended version to test. Then we can proceed to add support for metering.

No to both to be honest. It was a last minute decision to stick with what I use (and it was a good decision). I understand that I should have entered my state abbreviation into the TX Serial# number field and uncheck Increment TX Serial#. But, what does this mean capture your QSO partner's state abbreviation, province abbreviation or serial number in each QSO's RX# <https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxkeeper/Help/Items.htm#rx%20#> item?" when the data comes automatically from JTAlerts.

+ It means that if JTAlert is going to log contest QSOs in a manner that will enable DXKeeper to subsequently generate a Cabrillo file, JTAlert must log those contest QSOs in the manner described in

<https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/Multi>

Do I need to touch each QSO after it has been logged and modify the record by entering the other side's State code?

+ Yes. For DXKeeper to be able to generate a Cabrillo file from your logged contest QSOs, those QSO must conform to the requirements set forth in

<https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/Multi>

ghassan chammas

Hi all.
I submitted my 2018 marathon sheet successfully.
I also set the dxkeeper for 2019, no problem
I wanted to go back and use dxkeeper to do some analysis using the 2018 log.
Likecwhat would have been my score had i submitted only phone, or only 40m.etc...i saw that even if change the marathon award setup back to 2018, the report output remains based on 2019.

Is there a way to do thay?

+ Yes. On the Configuration window's Awards tab, click the "Marathon Bands and Modes" panel's "Year, Category, Scoresheet Info" button. In the "Year, Category, Scoresheet Information" window that appears,

1. set the "Current year" to 2018

2. select the "Category" for which you want to see your 2018 score

3. click the Progress button in the "CQ DX Marathon" panel on the Main window's "Check Progress" tab.

Flex 6400/Maestro+DX Labs for WSJT-X

I thought I had DX Labs, WSJT-x, SmartSDR, DAX all configured to work for FT8 but I guess not.  The "DB Scale" in the lower left hand of the WSJT-X screen is showing no signal.  Here are some screen shots of my setup.  Any ideas?  Thanks!!!

+ What model Flex radio are you using? Does Commander correct track its frequency and mode changes? Can you control the radio's frequency and mode from Commander's Main window?

Dave,

I will be glad to test.  I'm not sure on the room for selected indicator, but do follow that is is indicated on the radio.  I am using Commander remotely is why I asked.  Below is my setup, so far.  Is there a way to pass the query to another application for display?  Is the transmit indicator by the PTT: in the display not useful?  Brian

+ Did you receive the email message I sent you with the new version of Commander?

I'm not sure on the room for selected indicator, but do follow that is is indicated on the radio. I am using Commander remotely is why I asked.

+ Support for remote operation is not a priority for DXLab, though many ops successfully use it to manage remote transceivers.

Below is my setup, so far. Is there a way to pass the query to another application for display? Is the transmit indicator by the PTT: in the display not useful?

+ I don't understand either of these two questions. Please elaborate.

Satellite QSO information

Eric Rosenberg W3DQ

For satellite QSOs the following fields are needed (see example below from https://lotw.arrl.org/lotw-help/satellite-qsos/)

<CALL:6>WA6DIR
<QSO_DATE:8>20080710
<TIME_ON:6>151200
<BAND:4>70CM
<MODE:3>SSB
<PROP_MODE:3>SAT
<SAT_NAME:4>AO-7
<EOR>

<PROP_MODE> and <SAT_NAME> need to be included. I don't see how those fields are added to the log in order that they are then in the ADIF file.

Any help is appreciated.

Running WAS script for 60m issue

Jay KA9CFD

I am having an issue when running the script I have to check my WAS status on 60 meters.

The script I am using is this:

filter Band='60m'
report us_states <ReportsFolder>us_states_60.txt

When I run it, it is showing LotW confirmed status for Wisconsin as an "R" for a station that I had worked but had never uploaded to LOTW. However I have worked 2 other Wisconsin stations that have confirmed through LOTW and show their received status as a "Y" in DXKeeper. For some reason the script is not picking it up. Any ideas?
