Unable to connect to server for upgrade to commander

Kent N6WT

When I try to upgrade Commander to the latest 1374 I get

"error while downloading:unable to connect to server; Upgrade aborted"

I can download the upgrade through a browser though.

Thanks

Question: How can a DXView user turn off the "new DB" database update notification that apply to just the eQSL updates?

Background: I do not use the eQSL system. When DXView announces the availability of new databases, using the very helpful red letter notification alerts, I then update all databases that have an update, including eQSL. It's great to get the updates in place and active, because the databases that are used are so very, very helpful. Thank you. For over ten years I've updated every database available, even though I never use eQSL databases. If one opts not to update a database, such as eQSL, the red letter notification alert stays active, seemingly forever. It'd be good to have an option to deactivate the alerts just for those databases that are not used. Yes, I looked on the web for a way to do that, and looked in the instructions for such an option, but my search skills are apparently not as good as they used to be. Thanks for your help with this. /Mark
This was in the distant past, but I remember at one time if you wanted to not have certain database notifications, the method was to delete the database in question.

In this case, if you don’t want any notifications for eQSL, you can just go to DXLab -> DXView -> Databases and delete eQSLAG.mdb. It shouldn’t try to update a database that isn’t there.

Dave can comment on this, whether this method still works and doesn’t damage anything.

Hope this helps.

I have. It is some time ago, though.

Having Commander control the RCForb client via the virtual K3 CAT interface works well.

CW keying was somewhat problematic so I ended up using RCForb's internal CW keyboard.

It has been a while so perhaps the KY CAT command is now implemented in the client and Winwarbler can also be used for CW.
That would be neat.

Has anyone successfully integrated the RCForb remote ham radio client with DXLab. I am guessing there is a way to use the client to interface with Commander, but have not yet cracked the code. The RCForb client has a K-3 mode that I gather is the secret.

I have access to a neighbor's remote station and would like to be able to use it from time to time while out of town, but keep be able to use DXLab applications to support it.

Commander 13.7.4 is available

Dave AA6YQ

This release

- corrects a regression that when controlling an IC-7300, IC-7610, IC-7850, or IC-7851, prevents the Spectrum-Waterfall window's
"Reference Level" slider from being updated when changing band segments (tnx to Björn SM7IUN)

- when controlling a Flex Signature radio, if the radio is powered down, doesn't create errorlog.txt file entries reporting
callsigns with missing Flex spot numbers

- includes an S-meter file for the IC-7851 (tnx to Julio W4HY)

- enables user control of text colors and surface colors for user-defined command sequence buttons

- provides <ButtonTextColor> and <ButtonSurfaceColor> commands for use in user-defined command sequences

- updates the CommandSequences.htm documentation file

Notes:

1. The "User-defined Command Sequence" window provides a new "Button Colors" panel that enables you to set a user-defined sequence
button's text and surface color. The new <ButtonTextColor> and <ButtonSurfaceColor> commands enable execution of a command sequence
to change button text and surface color.

2. Update your firewall and anti-malware applications to consider this new version of Commander to be "safe"

3. If this upgrade doesn't work correctly, see the "After an Upgrade" section of
<http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/ApplicationStoppedWorking>

4. After upgrading, to revert to the previous version of Commander, see
<http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/RevertApplicationVersion>

Commander 13.7.4 is available via the DXLab Launcher and via

<http://www.dxlabsuite.com/download.htm>

Re: Logging POTA QSO's

Dave AA6YQ

+ AA6YQ comments below

How I log POTA contacts is to setup a user-defined entry for POTA (actually WWFF) where I can enter the park code number. Then I go
to https://parksontheair.com/#table-list and enter the code to get the name of the park and its state. Enter the park name in the
QTH box of the "capture" window and select the state. Since chasers don't submit logs it doesn't really matter but for me I like to
have the correct info in my
log.

+ If you like, you can generate a POTA progress report from the information recorded in each QSO's user-defined item. See

<https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxkeeper/Help/Progress.htm#User>

Re: DXView and FT8

Dave AA6YQ

* AA6YQ comments below

The spots from WSJT-X / JTAlertX appear in SpotCollector on the radio's VFO A frequency, 50313, plus the frequency shown in WSJT-X, 1139, for example. SpotCollector shows the correct frequency of 50314.1.

Maybe SpotCollector could pass the call, but not the frequency, to WSJT-X to populate the DX Call field and enable TX when double clicking on the spot in SC. It would have to know not to set the frequency in this case.

The benefit would be to respond the same way as any other selected spot in SC rather than finding the call in WSJT-X and double clicking it in that program.

Would this be a high priority? Probably not.

* As I said below, SpotCollector already provides the ability to convey information from a double-clicked Spot Database Entry for a station operating in a digital mode to a specified application; note the "Digital Mode Application" panel on the General tab of SpotCollector's Configuration window. This mechanism is used by MultiPSK, the FLDigi-to-DXLab bridge, and the MixW-to-DXLab bridge.

Dave, AA6YQ

+ AA6YQ comments below

I have limited experience on FT8 and am using it primarily on 6M to work needed grids.

I had missed the ability to link JTAlertX to SpotCollector, so I really appreciate the info from Dave below.

As far as I can see, there's no way to double click on an FT8 spot in SpotCollector and have the call populated in the DX Call window of WSJT-X, generating the standard messages, and enable TX to start calling. Right?

+ Correct. SpotCollector provides the required mechanism, but the JT-Alert/WSJT-X combination does not currently exploit it. There is a question of how useful this interoperation would be, given that FT8 spots often cite the lower band edge, and that it may not be appropriate to call the FT8 station on its transmit frequency.

Re: Pathfinder issue: Looks up details via QRZ one moment then the next...

Dave AA6YQ

Below, I meant to ask

"On Pathfinder's Configuration window,

- what is shown in the "Internet Explorer" panel for the Version and Emulation?"

73,

Dave, AA6YQ

+ AA6YQ comments below

I don't understand why Pathfinder keeps loosing QRZ login credentials. I am not talking days, but rather minutes from when I go to Pathfinder config and perform a QRZ login and lookups work correctly (via JTAlertX) but then a couple lookups later Pathfinder can no longer perform lookups until I do yet another login. This is happening many times in a two hour session. I am also getting Script Error dialog messages, always associated with the loss of lookup credentials.

+ When did this behavior first begin, Jerry?

+ On Pathfinder's Configuration window,

- what is shown for the Version and Emulation?

- is the "Hide script error notification" box checked?

+ Please reboot Windows into "safe mode with networking". Does the behavior reported above still occur?
