Hi Bill,

the FT1000 CAT protocol does not have a command to set user mode. If you set WSJT-X "Settings->Radio->Mode" to "None" then WSJT-X will not attempt to set the mode on your rig. I believe that is true also when Commander is acting as a rig control intermediary.

WinWarbler Setup

wb2nvr@...

Hi Dave -

I'm finalizing my transfer from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and have a few issues with Winwarbler that I'd appreciate some help with.

When WinWarbler opens and is set for RTTY, I only see screen S and 2 (I have 2-Tone enabled). I can't see screen X, which I can see on my Windows 7 system.

I have the same issues with WinWarbler 9.0.3 and 9.0.4.

I edited the MMTTY.ini file to use the new location of the files.

Did I miss a setting?

TNX!

Hi dave and the group,

I am using IC-7300 with dx-lab suite.
Commander is fine to use my others TX (FT857, FT 817) and HPSDR (rtl sdr). I have my log on DX-kepper, use Path finder, Dx view and also Multipsk for digitals modes.

I am very inrested about a spectrum-waterfall as
So I wood like to test that it dx-lab suite.
I olso cant wait for it !

Tnx for this group,

This is a issue I have not had before, but this is on older radio. While operating FT8 with WSJT-X on a FT1000MP (original).

I have the MP setup to use user mode for FT8, it seems either Commander, WSJT-X or the radio, or all the above become confused.

The combination of the software packages key the radio in User mode, but upon switching to RX the radio is placed in USB mode.

The error I receive from WSJT-X is Commander sent an unrecognized mode.

This isn't a huge issue if I just disable the cat interface, until I forget to change bands on the software and start reporting spots on the incorrect band, as well as logging the contacts with incorrect band data.

Everything was working fine on Windows 7. Since updating to Windows 10 I cannot connect to rig. Nothing changed except for Operating System.

Anyone know how to resolve this. I have been playing with the ports for hours with no luck.

What make and model transceiver are you using?
How is your transceiver connected to your computer? If an interface or USB-to-serial-port adaptor is involved, what is it's make and model?
In the Windows "Device Manager", what "Device Status" is shown for the COM port to which the transceiver is connected?

Subject: [dxlab] weirdo actions with commander/rig readout

I give up. Been fighting this for almost a month, and simply cannot find anything in the help files, etc. to help.

With the new db9/usb cable between the computer and rig I have not been able to get the freq readouts to follow correctly. For instance for the past several days,

When was the last time Commander controlled your transceiver correctly?
What hardware and software changes have you made since that time?
What make and model transceiver are you using?
What make and model is the "new db9/usb cable" you're using?
Please reboot Windows, and then start Commander; do not start any other applications.
Does Commander correctly track changes made via your transceiver's front panel to your transceiver's frequency, mode, and split frequency?
Can you correctly update your transceiver's frequency, mode, and split frequency via Commander's Main window?
73,

Dave, AA6YQ

I can double click on SC and see the primary freq In commander, and the rig freq both change correctly, but if there is any split freq already showing in commander, that B freq doesnt go away, for simplex, or even if they new spot has splits. In other words I just clicked on 18,070 simplex, and the rig gives that freq. Ok, so far so good. Now I rech up to the rig and use the BFO to tune the Main tuning freq, and that works --- but still a freq of 3.522.27 remains showing in Commanders VFO B readout. Now that would see to be OK since it is having no affect on the working of that station on 17 meters.

But then, I see another spot for 80 meters, with a split operation shown. I click on that, and see 3.534.5 on VFOA and 3.552.27 on VGFO B All good so far, EXECPT THE RIG ONLY HAS THE VFO A freq showing, and no split freq sent to rig. Now here is the kicker----- I tune with the rig VFO1 knob AND THE FREQ in Commanders VFOA now changes freq, NOT VFOA ?????

So I then click on another spot for a 7.004 freqeuency, and the rig changes to it, but VFOB DOESNT disappear in Commander VFOB readout. The split box in Commander fills and unfills properly according to the selected spot.

I go back to a split station, and the two A and B VFOs fill in properly in Commander, but back to the problem of VFOB not being sent over to the rig, which now is showing simplex. But when I use the rig Knob , It once again doesnt move the A freq, But moves the B frequency in Commander. Ive had so many changes and setting in Commander and its config window, I do not know if am coming or going.

Now, I just went to Commander and selected AxB to swap the BFO freqs where A is 28.062 and B is 3.527.72 on the Commander VFO windows. NO SWAP. Then hit the A=b to equalize the freq, and that doesnt work either. A continues as 10 meters, and B continues as 80 meters.

I snowed. Anyone recognize the outcomes I am getting?

Gotta go to Scouts, but look forward to hearing that I am a dunce, when I get back. Or not!

Thanks

What is the best "Call Book" to use to look up the data on the stations in Japan.

I use QRZ to do the lookup for the information the Japaneses stations that I have in my log and noted that on a few of the call signs I get ".....was not found" , even though some data , not for all, is available from other "Call Books"

To my knowledge, there is no master list of Japanese callsigns, so there is no objective answer to your question. See
<http://www.jarl.org/English/0-2c.htm>

DXKeeper lets you specify a Secondary callbook that it will query when the primary callbook fails to find the callsign. Pathfinder makes it easy to search additional callbooks if the first two come up empty.

OK, I've been off the air for a while, particularly in the digital modes. I recently decided to try them again, but was noticing some inconsistencies. I tried to open the online help in WW, both the main and config windows to no avail. This afternoon, with little activity on 20 metres, I also tried to open the online help for Launcher, SC, DXV and DXK. the only one that opened by clicking the appropriate button was DXV. Am I missing something here, or is there glitch somewhere?

Hi Dave &Group,
The main reason I️ came back into the group was to get caught up with the latest and greatest in Dxlab.
Ive continued to use it over the past couple years. Ive been down the Flex route (all versions), Elad, K3 and finally found my true love in the ic7300.
Like so many others, tried workarounds for the panadapter.
Had RS-BA1 working with Commander that I️ could control freq, modes etc from either rsba1 or commander.
But I️ could not get the transmit to work in rtty. Didn’t mess with cw. One headache at a time is enough.
I️ just could not get the comm ports to cooperate. I️ can Key the program and 7300 but no tones.

Was checking the archives and found the thread on the Commander Panadaper.
Dave, it looks great . Can’t wait to run it.

Thanks again.
To the rest of the group, I’m glad to be back among extended family. I️ belonged to many groups in the past few years, this is one of the best.
With that, I️ want to wish everyone no matter what religion/race, the very best in the coming year!

When I log contacts in DXKeeper most of the fields like county will be populated by the lookup routine and many of those entries get corrected with the LOTW syncs.

Is there any way to back fill empty fields such as county when getting LOTW infomation? If there is a discrepancy with the log data and LOTW data you are given the change to update the contact with the information provided to LOTW.

>>>DXKeeper's "Sync LoTW QSLs" and "Update from LoTW" functions already do that, Mike. When LoTW reports a confirmation, DXKeeper locates the logged QSO and updates it with the following information provided by LoTW:

* CQ Zone
* ITU Zone
* IOTA tag
* WPX Prefix
* Grid1, Grid2, Grid3, Grid4
* Primary Administrative Subdivision (e.g. US State)
* Secondary Administrative Subdivision (e.g. US County)

Subject: [dxlab] QSO Audio Recording

I'm in the process of moving my ham radio programs to a new PC.

I'd like to have the QSO Audio stored on my D: drive, and not in the default location.

Are there any plans to make the storage location user selectable?

AL K0VM made a similar request last week, so I've extended WinWarbler to enable the user to select an existing file into which QSO Audio files will be stored, and sent the new version to each of you. Please let me know how it goes.
I'll extend DXKeeper to provide the same capability.

Hello Dave,

===> Duplicate checking is not enabled.

===> No rejected QSO's, no error log.

===> I constructed the ADIF file from an Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet has 708 lines in it.

===> I believe all of the imports were imported into DXKeeper. The ADIF file was derived from a spreadsheet. In the spreadsheet, in the Comments column, I numbered each QSO -- #1, #2, #3, etc. The Comment field in DXKeeper has those number, they are in correct order, none appear to be missing.

Before importing, I always make a copy of the K8JQ.mdb database and place it in a backup folder. A few minutes ago I made a copy of the backup mdb file and did the import again, this time importing into the copy of the backup of the original mdb file. Same results.

Please attach the ADIF file to an email message, and send the email message to me via
