Make sure

- Commander's interrogation is enabled, with an interval of 200 ms

- the serial port's RTS is set to "ON"

- the radio and Commander are set to the same baud rate

- you're using the correct "variety" of serial cable (straight-through vs. null modem)

- there are no bent pins

Otherwise, there's a hardware problem.

Thanks, Bob. Just did check the port number assignments and Device Manager tells me that this dual serial port card (now ASIX MCS9835) is assigned as ports 2 and 3. In Device Manager, set the parameters to 4800, 8, None, 2 and no flow control. The two ports were set at 9600. Also re-updated the ASIX driver for this card. No changes observed.

The IF-232C interface being used is the LCU3-K made by W1GEE. Made for Kenwood radios. Software must assert RTS for the TTL interface to receive power. No other instructions. Plug 'n play in terms of hardware. It's the software settings that have to be right for Commander and the TS-850 to "talk".

I would unplug both from the PC, watching device driver, then plug the 850 in to see what port it shows up on DD.

Re: SC SQL Filter Error

Dave AA6YQ

Thanks for the errorlog.txt file, Mike. It shows that the SQL filter you
have specified on the Audio Alarm tab of SpotCollector's Configuration
window is invalid.

Here's an example:

(CALLSIGN='EA/DL2DXAP') and (FREQUENCY=18085) and (MODE='CW') and
(SPOTTIME=#2017-07-23 10:30:13#) and (k5p)

The last two words "and (k5p)" are what makes it invalid; I suggest that you
remove them.

------Went ahead with the Recompute.  Then took another look at RAT and the entries remain all marked with a V in the K prefix

------Took another try at entering K calls in dxView.

THAT DID THE TRICK.  ALL IS NOW WORKING.   Both, entering calls into DXView manually, and clicking on

SpotCollector  results properly marking the DXView boxes.

I had done everything yesterday, except the recompute.

Thanks for the help Dave.  I knew I hadnt lost logs, but it was perplexing.

I didn't have this on either of my computers but my wife uses Explorer to play some POGO games and she did have it. I downloaded the Adware Removal Tool that Dave references below and it found 193 pieces of Adware on my wife's computer. I removed them all and it seems to be working.

I assume that you have the correct log open in DXKeeper. Open DXKeeper's "Realtime Award Tracking" window, select the DXCC tab, and locate the row whose "Prefix" column contains K. Are the status boxes in this row correct? If not, click the Recompute button at the bottom of the Main window's "Check Progress" tab. Does the K row now show the correct status?

Prior to that, I have worked and confirmed with a 9 band WAS on PHONE/CW/DIGI.  Clicking on that W shows up on DXKeeper with 654 SSB total 6 meter contacts.   Looking through the logs, it appears that all my contacts are logged, all DXCC countries (343) and all 50 states (160-10 meters, and on all modes,  are counted, etc.

No problems, except for DXView.  DXView version 4.3.2 installed.    I do not remember doing anything to DXView recently. to cause a problem there.

Subject: [dxlab] KML file with DXView open

Every time i launch DXview I get a popup "How do you want to open this file?" Apparently it has something to do with Google earth. A click anywhere on the desktop makes it disappear and it doesn't seem to cause any trouble - just an irritant.

That means
1. you have DXView configured to open Google Earth and display information on it

2. your Google Earth installation is incomplete or has been broken; specifically, when directed to "open" a .kml file, Windows is not automatically starting Google Earth. You may be able to correct this by re-establishing Windows' "file association" between .kml files and Google Earth.

Re: Commander not closing down from Launcher.

Dave AA6YQ

The DXLab Launcher directs other DXLab applications to terminate by sending them a message via Windows. If the Launcher isn't able to direct Commander to terminate, but Commander does terminate if you click the X button in its Main window's upper-right corner, the Windows may not be conveying the "terminate" message from the Launcher to Commander. Reboot Windows to see if this corrects the situation.

On my windows7 system it is as you describe since long time - it is no problem as I close commander via seperate closing. I feel, it is more a feature as commander is the program, which is needed for other applications and it is for me ok, that is stay open.
