Re: OQRS

John Etling

Since this subject is on the table, and I apologize if it is a bit off topic…

What EXACTLY is ClubLogs OQRS? I get these OQRS requests occasionally from contacts and then see that I have a $0 balance… I have no clue what this actually is or what to do with these requests, if anything.

I use OQRS thru Clublog. Not sure I will be able to answer any questions you have inregards to DXLab as I still print labels from a former logging program for the stations I manage, as I have not really been able to get labels to print as I want them in DXLab.

Thanks, Rex. Club Log will generate PDF files that when printed produce both address and QSL labels. Is there a reason you don't print those?
For the QSL Manager using DXLab who occasionally downloads a file of confirmation requests from Club Log, I see two scenarios:
1. add each such request to the QSL Queue so QSL cards or labels can be generated in the usual manner

2. print the labels generated by Club Log, and in each logged QSO for which confirmation has been requested, update the "QSL Sent", "QSL Sent Date", and "QSL Sent Via" items to indicate that an outgoing QSL has been sent via electronic means.

Have I described these correctly? Are there other scenarios?

Printing Issue

Ralph Fedor

I just purchased a new Epson WF-2630 on sale at Office Max.  It connects to my computer by a functioning wireless connection and prints normally from Windows Word, etc.

When I try to print labels from DXKeeper, it thinks I'm trying to send a fax and a fax form pops up for me to fill in.  No matter what I do I can't get around this and get to a normal print menu.  Since it works with other applications, Epson has no solution for me.

Any ideas out there?

Changing from RTTY to PSK31 crashes WinWarbler

Dave Corio

This little bug has started appearing recently. With WinWarbler in RTTY (AFSK) mode, selecting a memory in Commander that specifies PSK mode will cause WW to crash. WW seizes up for a few seconds, then the message "WinWarbler has stopped Working" appears. Clicking through the message or closing it causes WW to close.

Once I restart WW, this problem doesn't happen for the duration of the session, and there don't seem to be any other combinations that cause this to happen. All DXLab modules are current.

I am able to recreate this error, and I have an Error Log created for the latest episode if you would like it.

5BWAZ question

hatt_randy

I have approximatly 185 zones confirmed via QSL cards and LOTW with a couple dozen of those confirmed via LOTW. However CQ does not accept LOTW at this time for 5BWAZ. Maybe in the future.  Can I configure SpotCollector and/or DXKeeper to notify me of a needed zone/band combination while ignoring the fact that I have that zone confimed via LOTW but not by QSL card?

K5P QTH Exception in DXKeeper

Mark Robinson

I added an exception for K5P in spot collector but when import an adi file into DXKeeper K5P is still showing as NA.

I have hand edited all the entries but is there a way to put an exception directly into DXKeeper.

Call sign lookups

I think that I may have something miss configured. When using winwarbler and  I request a call lookup the program goes out and does a lookup and returns data back to winwarbler. Then I go and log the contact and again it goes out and does the lookup to write the record into dxkeeper. Is this normal? If it is not then how do I correct this behavior?

Thanks in advance.

Re: QSL log panel checkbox

Chris Codella

Thanks, Dave.  I don't know why I never noticed this before.  As far as I can tell, in my entire log of 20k QSOs, none has "MyQTH" filled in.  I just set its default in Config.  Now to fill it in for the rest of the log entries.

Subject: [dxlab] QSL log panel checkbox

I'm having a minor problem getting DXKeeper to keep the QSL panel checkbox un-checked. If I uncheck it in the "QSL" checkbox in either the Log QSOs tab or in the Config window, it goes away fine. But then if I quit DXKeeper and start it back up, the QSL panel checkbox is checked again and that panel is displayed.

>>>When DXKeeper autonomously enables a panel on the Main window's "Log QSOs" tab, that's because one of the items in that panel contains an error. The guilty item's caption should be rendered in blue or red font, depending upon the severity of the error. For example, if you have multiple "My QTHs" defined, any QSO lacking a "My QTH ID" will cause the QTH panel to be made visible to DXKeeper can show you that the QSO's "My QTH ID" item is empty.

LoTW and my old calls

FireBrick <bill@...>

I vaguely remember discussion about this in the past.
When DXK is directed to obtain LoTW qsls for me, does it also check for my old callsigns?
Like my Novice call and previous callsign.

All calls and qsos were made from the same location.

Re: Spot Collector Windows not showing Zero

Bob WB2NVR

Hi Dave -

Yes, I was referring to the Spot Source windows.

I did have Show zero as slashed zero checked.  I unchecked it, and now zeros are being displayed - with the slash!

That's not what I expected, but I'm happy it's working now.

Re: LoTW Upload Error?

Mike VA3LR

Dave,
I am relatively new to DXLab (3 months) and I never realized that it requesting a password was not the standard.  I went back to the LoTW config window to ensure that I indeed had a password correctly entered in the appropriate spot ... I did.  So I am not sure why I DXLab (or maybe it was LoTW) requesting a password.

Regardless, it is now working without having to re-enter the password.  I obviously had something set up incorrectly.  I will report back if this behaviour resurfaces again.

Thanks agin for your help.

As usual, operator error caused an overreaction on my part. I never noticed the TQSL Upload window before. Once I ignored this window and just entered my password as normal, the QSOs uploaded successfully to LoTW. Sorry for the trouble and thanks again for your quick responses.

Ok I think I understand what you are saying and will try that. But I dont think my feature request is unreasonable. You already have the checkmark box for an age filter there that could be applied to any SQL filter. Not just NPOTA. Something to think about before totally dismissing it.

Changing SpotCollector to act as if every SQL filter contains <AGEFILTER> would mean that users who don't want the age filter active when they invoke an SQL filter would have to uncheck the Age box.
One might suggest that when DXKeeper generates an NPOTA filter for SpotCollector, the generated filter should always include <AGEFILTER>. Would anyone object to that?

I do Larry add it to the end of the SQL expression that the NPOTA button creates. But it gets erased whenever I run the report again to show the updated parks I have worked. It more of a convenience thing as anything.

Adding an option like "include <AGEFILTER> in automatically-generated SpotCollector filters" is beyond what's reasonable in supporting an operating event that will conclude in 11 months. If your Spot Database Display includes the "Last Time" field and you set the Main window's Sort panel to "Last", then after you invoke the NPOTA filter it's easy to see which stations are still QRV and which are not.
