Hi Dave -

Thanks for spending the time on this. Since it only impacts people who have more than one log and use WorkSpaces, it might not be worth the effort to resolve this - especially if it's pilot error. However, please give me one last try.

When I finish working on one log, and if I make a change to something - like the log layout, I'll save the change, and then Update the WS. When I activate a different WS and open that log, the backup location is that of the previously updated WS. It seems like the backup directory for the WS that was just updated is overwriting the backup directory for another callsign/log. I have multiple folders within my backup directory (one per call). Updating the WS changes the backup file location in ALL of the folders - not just the for the call that is being updated.

I just confirmed that this is still happening with the latest updates.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your request.

I started DXK 10.3.2 for W2RZS. The backup location was J75RZ. I
changed
the location to W2RZS, didn't do a backup, and closed DXK. I restarted
DXK,
and the backup location remained W2RZS, as expected.

This confirms that the defect your reported was in fact corrected.
Versions of DXKeeper prior to 10.3.2 would have not updated the
Windows
Registry to reflect the change in backup folder from W2RZS to J75RZ
unless
you first initiated a backup.


I then updated the Work Space for W2RZS to save the backup location.

I then activated the WS for J75RZ, and opened DXK for J75RZ. The
backup
location shows W2RZS.

The implication of this is that your J75RX Workspace specified the
backup
location for W2RZS.


I changed it to J75RZ, closed DXK without making a B/U, re-opened DXK
for
J75RZ, and confirmed that the B/U location was J75RZ.

Once again confirming that the defect was corrected.

I closed DXK, and updated the WS for J75RZ to save the B/U location.

I then activated the WS for W2RZS, opened DXK for W2RZS, and the B/U
location was J75RZ.

You confirmed that the Windows Registry entry for the backup
location was
set to W2RZS when you restarted DXKeeper above. The question is why
this
wasn't saved in the W2RZS Workspace when you updated it.

Using Notepad, navigate to the W2RZS folder in the Launcher's
Workspaces
folder, and (with Notepad's "Files of Type" selector set to "All
Files"),
open the file DXKeeper.reg

Be careful to make no changes in this file (in case you
inadvertently
invoke the File:Save menu item)

Search for
BackupDirectory

You should find a line like
"BackupDirectory"="C:&#92;&#92;DXLab&#92;&#92;Archives&#92;&#92;Log Backups"

What does the line you find look like?
Terminate Notepad without saving changes.

Like you, I use IE only for DXLab and when accessing MS sites. I'm finding
Google Chrome does pretty much everything I want it to do. I downloaded and
use the OpenOffice Suite and find it works great too.

I'm using a genuine Microsoft (system builder) version. As it is,
falling back to IE8 is not a big deal since I don't use IE for anything

same symptoms - download failure - when I entered the download URL
in IE9's address box after navigating to the LotW site and logging
in.

In any case, since I can't replace URLMON.dll with a working version,
backing out IE9 allows me to sync with LotW.

I doubt Microsoft's veracity in describing the problem since IE9 quite
clearly replaces a version of URLMON that works with one that does not.

fix
the problem by rolling back to IE8 via a restore point? Are you using
ReadyBoost or do you have a flash drive you could run ReadyBoost on for a

That is quite likely. It could be almost any hardware device or combination of devices. Pretty much impossibe to determine without the ability to test every possible combination of devices. Given that thought, it's really pretty amazing that the Windows OS runs as well as it does on so many different combinations of hardware devices.

Hi all,
Going on from my last post about cw skimmer,,is it possible to use a Softrock RXTX sdr radio as a panadapter, perhaps using cw skimmer or that kind of thing?
New to this concept, so any help would be advantageous.
System at the minute is TS-870S on com1, PTT on com3, and SCS PTC-2 on com 4.
Softrock is on USB, and CW keying is via parallel port.

their definition is the option which reformats the drive, in which
case you will loose all data and programs as well as the OS. If that
was not the case for your computers when Windows 7 was installed, the
URLMON.dll is not correctly created for use beyond IE8.

I did not specifically check the "work offline" status but I had the
same symptoms - download failure - when I entered the download URL
in IE9's address box after navigating to the LotW site and logging
in.

In any case, since I can't replace URLMON.dll with a working version,
backing out IE9 allows me to sync with LotW.

I doubt Microsoft's veracity in describing the problem since IE9 quite
clearly replaces a version of URLMON that works with one that does not.

Seems like you should NOT be experiencing a URLMON.dll problem. Can you fix
the problem by rolling back to IE8 via a restore point? Are you using
ReadyBoost or do you have a flash drive you could run ReadyBoost on for a
test?

This was a brand new hard drive (two, in fact). When the SSD would
not install I put Windows 7/64 on a new, never used before, 160 GB
SATA drive and reinstalled/copied my ham software (including DXLab
Suite) to &#92;Ham Programs on a new, never used before 500 GB SATA drive.

I have similar behaviour when I start DXLabs, TX is OFF, so Commander shows
"000000". In that case, all filters in SC are not working.
By starting the TX, Commander shows a QRG, and them, filtering in SC works.

I was told the only fix (to use IE 9) for a computer previously
running VISTA, is to do a clean install of a full version of Windows
7.
Unfortunately, this is a *clean* installation of Windows 7/64 which by that
*should* support IE9. Once this system is finished I plan to update my
laptop - again with a clean install - so I'd like to get this sorted out.

It's interesting that your testing showed that the manual download worked if
IE was launched in "no add-ons" mode. I wonder if Dave can call that mode
in DXKeeper?

There is no reference to a "no add-ons" mode in the documentation of the
URLDownoadToFile function provided by URLMON.DLL:
