Re: Computer performance
I’ve run a Deferred Procedure Call (DPC) Latency Checker <http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml > which does show the impact of ReadyBoost; latency is significantly reduced by ReadyBoost during events triggered by incoming internet data, data transfer, or disk I/O operations. YMMV.....

Re: Some new-user comments/questions

Dave,
***What problems have you encountered when logging via the Main window's "Log QSOs" tab? Here’s what I encounter. 1. I see a needed station in Spot Collector. I double click its row. 2. The station's call, freq, band, etc. are loaded into DXKeeper's QSO panel, but the code field is flashing red. A dialog box has popped up that says 'You must correct the flashing red fields in the current QSO before performing this operation". 3. I dismiss the dialog box, and then the code field is properly filled in with the ARRL DXCC entity number. 4. I click the log button to log the QSO. (A dialog box with a progress bar is pops up for a second or two. It says "Recomputing award progress for [PFX of station]”. Can this happen in the background without showing the dialog?) The just-logged QSO row in the LPD is red, presumably because it's info is still in the DXK QSO panel. But no: if I click the 'New' button the QSO panel is cleared and I get a new row in the LPD, but the QSO I just logged is still red. It stays red until I start over at step 1. 73, John From: dxlab@yahoogroups.com [mailto:dxlab@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Dave AA6YQ Sent: Tuesday, 19 June 2012 12:36 AM To: dxlab@yahoogroups.com Subject: RE: [dxlab] Some new-user comments/questions *** AA6YQ comments below -----Original Message----- From: dxlab@yahoogroups.com <mailto:dxlab%40yahoogroups.com> [mailto:dxlab@yahoogroups.com <mailto:dxlab%40yahoogroups.com> ]On Behalf Of John Pelham Sent: Monday, June 18, 2012 4:42 PM To: dxlab@yahoogroups.com <mailto:dxlab%40yahoogroups.com> Subject: RE: [dxlab] Some new-user comments/questions Dave, I’m also a new DXLab user. *** Welcome to DXLab, John! snip< its stylefirst released, no one has ever requested this capability. Besides, it's not all that alien to me - N1MM Logger, which I use for contests, similarly has a separate entry window. Probably will not be difficult to get used to. +++ I hate to pile on, but I will be the second to request the ability to directly enter log data into the Log Page Display. *** Expressing your support for an enhancement request is not "piling on". Switching to DXLab from DXbase involves getting used to many differences, but this one is the most difficult for me. Why have an additional dialog box get in the way of logging QSOs? At first I thought that I didn't need the Capture dialog and could enter QSOs into the QSO panel of the Log QSOs tab. But I found that using DXKeeper that way has some problems when working and logging stations from Spot Collector. ***What problems have you encountered when logging via the Main window's "Log QSOs" tab? 73, Dave, AA6YQ

Re: Unable to download from LotW:download failure
If your computer is running Windows 7 with IE 9 and unable to download from LOTW, and if it did work with IE8, you can fix the problem with a clean install of Windows 7. The clean install is a fresh full version of Windows 7 rather than an upgrade from Vista or a partial re-install.
Been there, did it, verified it. Now running the full install of Windows 7 sent by Microsoft to verify their upgrade version was flawed with IE9. 73 ES DX, Gary -- AB9M From: Dave Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2012 1:39 PM To: dxlab@yahoogroups.com Subject: [dxlab] Re: Unable to download from LotW:download failure --- In mailto:dxlab%40yahoogroups.com, "nk1x@..." <nk1x@...> wrote:AA6YQ comments below Just a heads-up that these workaround instructions are no longer valid.
