Getting a bit off topic but - True, which is why I specified "usually".
Many CPUs are sitting idle while we do other stuff, like work DX. Many
people have a fast enough processor, with DXLab doesn't take much. There
are exceptions all over the place like BOINC which will max out every
processor available 100% of the time.

For most people most of the time, memory upgrade would be step 1. A new
CPU often isn't an upgrade, its a PC replacement.

Your assertion 'if it fits in memory its OK' flies in the face of advice
from little known entities like Microsoft who suggest enough to keep 50%
of it free. Full memory is like full disk: PC grinds to a halt.

Notepad is an application developed by Microsoft; DXLab applications invoke it to display text files, like progress reports.

If your Notepad is broken, you should contact Microsoft Support.

Tonight I am getting an error message from DXKeeper like:

Callbook Error: A subscription is required to access the full data

I am logged in to Pathfinder with my XML account. I terminated and
restarted both DXKeeper and Pathfinder, still getting this popup error with
every attempt to lookup - Capture window <enter> and Spot Collector
double-click, for example.

Cut/paste the call into the pathfinder window returns the expected QRZ
webpage for that call.

In general,

Using SQL select the QSOs to be modified:

QSO_Begin > #2009-03-28 0600# and QSO_Begin < #2009-03-29 0300#

Or use the "UTC Filter" - select After/Before and enter the date/time

Then using "Modify QSOs in Log page Display" (when the log is filtered
to show only the QSOs to modify) select ADIF Field name = QSO_End,
enter <QSO_Begin> in the "Item new value" box and click "MOD"

As always, *MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE MAKING ANY MASS MODIFICATION*!

I have a series of old entries in my log that are incorrect due to my error. The logging program I used prior to DXLabs didn't have the ability of using SQL statements, and since DXKeeper does, now would be a good time to correct my old mistakes.

Fortunately these entries are sequential as they are contest QSOs.

Would the following be possible (and I could sure use the statement):

Overwrite the end date with the begin date for QSOs from 0006z on March 28, 2009 through 0253z on March 29, 2009

Here’s what I encounter.

1. I see a needed station in Spot Collector. I double click its row.

2. The station's call, freq, band, etc. are loaded into DXKeeper's QSO panel, but the code field is flashing red. A dialog box has popped up that says 'You must correct the flashing red fields in the current QSO before performing this operation".

3. I dismiss the dialog box, and then the code field is properly filled in with the ARRL DXCC entity number.

4. I click the log button to log the QSO. (A dialog box with a progress bar is pops up for a second or two. It says "Recomputing award progress for [PFX of station]”. Can this happen in the background without showing the dialog?) The just-logged QSO row in the LPD is red, presumably because it's info is still in the DXK QSO panel. But no: if I click the 'New' button the QSO panel is cleared and I get a new row in the LPD, but the QSO I just logged is still red. It stays red until I start over at step 1.

But I found that using DXKeeper that way has some problems when working and logging stations from Spot Collector.

a submission makes things tedious.

8J1RL has been used from several Japanese bases in the Antarctic
including Dome Fuji, Miznho and Syowa.

The ITU zone in the DXCC database (69) in correct for Miznho
Dome Fuji and Syowa are in 67. All three are in CQ zone 39.
Only Syowa is on Ongul Island (AN-015) - the other two are on
the continent.

The time zone for all three is UTC-3 - that will be corrected.

"(equivalent to clicking the *New* button)" but it does not create a new QSO
record if the QSO panel is displaying an "old" QSO.

It is not currently possible to enter log data directly into the Log Page

Display. Enabling this would require implementing the following automation:

1. when a callsign has been entered, perform database and callbook lookups,
and populate the QSO's items with the results of those lookups

2. update the QSO's frequency, receive frequency, and mode as Commander
reports changes from the transceiver (if "optimize for realtime QSO entry"
is enabled, otherwise initialize these fields to their values from the last
QSO logged with "optimize for realtime QSO entry" disabled)

3. compute the band and receive band from the frequency and receive
frequency respectively

4. appropriately set QSO begin and end times as a function of the "optimize
for realtime QSO entry" setting

5. appropriately initialize signal reports

6. check each item for errors, and flag those that are invalid

7. prevent a QSO missing valid critical items (call, DXCC entity, band,
mode, date, time) from being logged

8. implement keyboard shortcuts for rapid navigation among items

The above automation is already provided for logging QSOs via the Main
window's "Log QSOs" panel, logging QSOs via the Capture window, and logging
QSOs via WinWarbler's "QSO Info" panel.

If your computer is running Windows 7 with IE 9 and unable to download from LOTW, and if it did work with IE8, you can fix the problem with a clean install of Windows 7. The clean install is a fresh full version of Windows 7 rather than an upgrade from Vista or a partial re-install.

Been there, did it, verified it. Now running the full install of Windows 7 sent by Microsoft to verify their upgrade version was flawed with IE9.

DXLab supports the latest hardware/software combinations. It does, however, require that Windows work properly.

I've found HRD to be useless for contest logging and awards tracking, and wish I could go back to DXLab.

Yes. On the LotW tab of DXKeeper's "QSL Configuration" window, check the "PC has no internet connection" box. When you click the "Sync LotW QSOs" or "Sync LotW QSLs" buttons, you'll be instructed how to proceed.
