How can I get the broke filter to not flag EVERY US contact as being broken because I don't know the state or county? Usually I just don't care what state and county a US station is in.

If I had known this program in the past it could have saved me a lot of time, especially if it really does its job. Thank you for the pointer.

Franco,

Download and install the program "WhoCrashed"

You computer will probably dump crash data to your drive before it reboots, this program reads it and tells you what happened.

Very simple to use and may help you understand what is causing the crash

Remember to always scan for virus and malware before installing anything downloaded from the Internet, nothing was found here.

Subject: [dxlab] Blue screen again... and Windows restarts itself

Since the first days of January I'm experiencing a problem that involves (I think) Commander.

Randomly my Win 7 Pro Intel i5 PC (with latest Windows update) shows the blu screen and then restarts itself.

All the DX Lab apps are updated to the latest versions available, Commander is 13.1.6..

I use a MicroKeyer II (Device Router 8.8.2) and another 2 USB to Serial Port adapter (FTDI Chip).

The blu screen normally appears when the PC is unattended (I'm not using it but the DXLab Suite is open).

After some tests i found out that:

With Device Router application open, the MK II switched on and Commander open the PC doesn't freeze.

With Device Router application open, the MK II switched OFF and Commander open the PC freeze.

With Device Router application open, the MK II switched OFF and Commander CLOSED the PC doesn't freeze.

I have no other software active on this machine but ESET NOD 32.

No energy saver o screen saver.

The problems (I think) started after the Commander update to 13.0.8

I tried to read the DUMP screen with a specific software but without receiving any interesting info.

Can someone help me to solve the problem?

Thank you in advance

microHam and Scomm are still working to understand why the Eltima serial port driver used by microHam crashes when Commander is using Scomm version 9.1.12 to control a Yaesu transceiver with a binary CAT instruction set. Two users have reported these crashes, one with an FT-847 and another with an FT-900.

What make and model transceiver do you have Commander controlling, Franco?

Since you can avoid crashes by keeping your MK II "switched on" when Commander is running, please do so.

When microHam and Scomm have resolved the Eltima crash problem, we can the check to see that resolution also eliminates the "crash while MK II is "switched off" while Commander is running" behavior that you are reporting.

Please report this information along with the transceiver model to
support@microHAM.com so it reaches the microHAM programmers.

Note: running Commander with the MK II turned off is equivalent to
pulling the USB cable in a running system. Behavior of the virtual
serial ports (e.g., Eltima 7 in this case) is completely unpredictable.

Although it should not be unpredictable and certainly should not cause a blue screen. Likely bad driver code or Windows bug but that (BLUE SCREEN) is not supposed to happen.

Nevertheless it is unpredictable and it has been since day one so we just have to live with it I guess.

That is not needed imho.

It seems to be better to write an external SW which serves your request.

A small application that interoperates with Commander to display the frequency and S-meter, and provide band change buttons is available via
< http://www.dxlabsuite.com/DXLabFrequency/DXLabFrequency116Update.zip

This application was developed by Ben PG5S, an early user and advocate of DXLab. Sadly, Ben became a silent key in 2005.

DXCC Credits

I recently applied some more DXCC credits, will be just over have way to
Challenged once the cards are checked :) On the check progress tab I
selected credits and did a report. Most everything was exact except for
one which said "minor" What mismatch can cause it to be minor?

One other question. Should I worry about fixing things like this?

log vs LotW mismatch: logged ITUZ = 8, LotW ITUZ = 06

log vs LotW mismatch: logged CQZ = 4, LotW CQZ = 03

logged GRIDSQUARE = KN04ft, LotW GRIDSQUARE = KN03ft

As described in

Minor: links with minor mismatches (Callsign, Begin time)
Major: links with major mismatches (Band, Mode)

Yes. You should determine the correct ITU zone, CQ zone, and gridsquare, and if necessary update the logged QSO with accurate information.

It's the time. 01:37:59 versus 01:37:00

Yes. You should determine the correct ITU zone, CQ zone, and

I guess changing the mismatches so they match what LoTW has would be best?

+++ Not necessarily. Sometimes the information a user enters in the LoTW "Station Location" used to upload a QSO is incorrect; switching CQ and ITU zones is a classic example. Recent versions of TQSL highlight inconsistent Station Location data, but it's still worth checking the information in past QSOs and one or two callbooks to determine whether the information in your log or in LoTW is correct. Contacting your QSO partner via email is another option.

I recently had a PC meltdown and had to switch out my gear. I am running

PNY Quadro P600 VCQP600-PB 2GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Low

$200 and it works awesome. It has mini displayport connections, but you
can find dirt cheap mini-DP to anything adapters on Amazon for dirt cheap.
I am running 1 HDMI, 2 DVI-D and one VGA monitor from this card and it's
been flawless.

Just thought i'd share something that has worked well for me. 73 James

Each time I start up DXKeeper, I get the message, "There is no log page display sort specified." It then defaults to QSO Date order, which is what I would want anyway, but it is annoying. I've looked around, changed some things, but nothing helps. Any ideas?

On the Main window's "Log QSOs" tab, there is a Sort panel in the lower-left corner. Choose one of its three options; most users choose "UTC".

In my standard DXLab window set up, I swear I used to have a screen (part of DX View?) that upon entry of a call sign in the Capture window, would show a simple matrix with mode as the Y axis and Band as the X axis, with an indication in each box of worked, confirmed, etc.

That window is gone or I imagined it. If it isn't my imagination, what can I do to bring it back??
