If you have the right skill set, you can build your own linear power supply. Another source would be PSUs designed for medical equipment. There was a thread about these but it might have been on one

Nick,
I guess you must have an early wellbrook power supply, as mine is 12 volt negative to the outer, which has become the norm these days for these connectors. The LAA performs much better with 12

I put up a square loop with 4m sides today running E-W, supported between two 6m telescoping fishing poles. Compared to my 15M random wire, performance on MW is much better, I can hear Dutch

If so, how does one protect cables from this grey vermin?
Chili paste or oil?
Chili seeds are hot (covered in an oily substance, which acts as a defense mechanism, to protect the plant from predation

A good call David, and the thought had crossed my mind. My neighbour is an electrician by trade but I doubt he has any RF knowledge. They may be open to changing out an SMPSU should that prove

Hi Tom
Alarm bells have just sounded upon hearing that your neighbours have a new kitchen extension. I've heard this so many times now. It is almost inevitable that they have some nice shiny lights

It'll blow your socks off when you get it outdoors (mine's a 1.45Msq copper wire, inverted delta - previously galvanised steel wire rope - it rusted but worked fine, centered about 1.5M above ground

I made an inverted delta using the supplied wire and wooden supports. It works as expected indoors amid strong EMI/RFI but keeps the hobby alive until I can get something more solidly constructed and

Re: CCW Loop Help
Chris
40m at night
suburban home
indoors
no attenuation and no OVLD LED on 705 and yes the 7300 can overload on 40m and 80m but not as bad as in EU with heavy 500KW SW broadcasters
Will try to FT818

Re: CCW Loop Help
John,
A few questions for you...
What frequency bands and time of day did you try it? For example you won't hear much if the band is closed say on 28 MHz at night.
What is your location like?

Re: CCW Loop Help
i use a length of stainless steel strap [~1" wide] in the roof space with ~16' of mini8 to feed.
and using the 12v bias tee provided.
Gives me adequate coverage HF-VHF
I'm guessing it would be even

Re: CCW Loop Help
I got mine just last week, running from the bias tee from my RSP1A. I just have it strung up over a window until I can properly mount it in the roof space but it's certainly working.
