Re: SDRuno bias-t and Loop Amplifier +
Hi Ray,
As you have found the minimum voltage for the Loop Antenna Amplifier + is just below 5 V.
The USB voltage output from some computers may be lower than 5 V and in that case an external USB

SDRuno bias-t and Loop Amplifier +
The loop amp + fed by the bias-t of USB connected sdr receivers seems a good idea, but does have a few pitfalls. My initial experience of feeding the LA+ from my RSPduo was disappointing. Performance

Thanks Simon!
Good advice on G3TXQ,- Steve's work is my bible for chokes, Steve was a great researcher and an equally great teacher.; explaining complex concepts whilst avoiding the esoteric jargon

You could use an aluminium bicycle wheel (which has good inductance properties) as demo'd by Chris on an introductory video of the low-cost loop antenna amplifier...

Re: ACTIVE BROADAND ANTENNA How do I improve HF performance?
Jeff..
adding chokes to coax will not effect inductance of antenna..
if you wish to do well do as Chris says..but you can wind turns of coax around 31 and 43 etc rings..
see g3txq common mode chokes

Re: loop antenna construction ideas.
Thicker dia the better. But no real gains after 25mm dia.
its to lower inductance not resistance..
2- 4 small loops in parallel works better..as lowers inductance..
no bigger if single than 1m

The delta bit doesn't seem too bad either.

Thanks Chris. I'll fit 43 and 73 clip-ons as you advise, I assume that making more than one turn through the clip-ons to increase common mode choking at HF might add unwanted inductance and upset the

It sounds like it's working well for you, Mike!
For others on the forum what are the details of the loop you use with the amplifier?
Regards,
Chris

We stopped manufacturing the Broadband Active Antenna at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown.
During the lockdown I took the opportunity to re-design the antenna so that it will work directly from a 5V

The later versions of the original Broadband Active Antenna had common mode chokes on the coax feed inside the antenna to stop RF noise from the coax cable reaching the amplifier in the antenna.

YouTube video of Loop Antenna Amplifier + in use
Mike Ladd, KD2KOG who is tech support for SDRPlay has just posted a video showing his loop antenna using a Loop Antenna Amplifier + from his home in Florida.
It looks like it's working well for him,

loop antenna construction ideas.
i tried making a loop with 4mm copper wire and found the reception very poor, i read on a prior post it should have used something thicker to lower resistance.
so what should i use for an attic
