Different styles of fan blades?
The tin block engines had the adjustment slot for the fan in the block instead of the fan bracket. Not easily used on a cast iron block.

Different styles of fan blades?
When I pulled the engine in our 48 wagon for new bearings & ground crank, I noticed that the fan blades had been welded in the past, I assume because of cracks. I wasn't pleased with this so picked up

I will let you know how it goes. After running the engine for a few hours, no problems. My temperature gauge shows the block running under 200 F. Do you have a better recommendation for sealant? Sent

I used Permatex Thread Sealant High Temperature. Goes onto the stud threads as a liquid and cures into a nice white sealer ( see attached photo). Works great on the intake/exhaust studs. Jeff Sent fro
