That first one may have been one of Deane Shermans. He has passed on. Jim Bollman or Fred Syrsal could probably confirm that though.

Hi,
I'm searching for the owner of the first Supersports in  picture at the 2006 Crosley Nationals as I would like to ask the owner a couple questions. The second photo is my 1951 Supersports which I am still searching any info of its past. It has dual exhaust (homemade manifold-back) was last titled in clayton, Ind in 1965 and was supposedly in Vermont at some time. Any info at all appreciated.

Crosley sun shade.........any pictures of one ?

I've looked all over and cannot find a picture of an original or even restored sun shade. I know they were made with Masonite but it's the brackets I'd like to see .

Has anybody tried or know if a vacuum advance distributor will work or even fit on a crosley? Im contemplating an idea that my father had to better the timing on the crosley and im just wondering if its worth my time to change out the distributor if i could even find one that fits, let alone if it will improve efficiency.

We have the original sun shades in our 1947 Crosley sedan. They are in good condition. Would a photo of these be of any use?

Sorry guys, looking for the sun shade  not sun visors.

Re: Crosley sun shade.........any pictures of one ?

Maybe I'm confused on this one too. What I am looking for is the shade that goes on the outside of the car, on the roof, and hangs out over the windshield to shade the sun.I have read it here that they were a factory accessory and were made from painted masonite and had steel brackets to hold them.If I could see the brackets I think I could figure out how to fabricate them.

Re: Crosley sun shade.........any pictures of one ?

Not sure sun shade is the right name either, was just going to ask if the outside visor was what you were asking about, I never heard the inside visors called shades. I'm not sure if the outside windshield visor was a factory option or just an aftermarket product that some dealers might have offered. I have one made out of tinted plastic, I would have to check if it has usable brackets or not I have never tried to use it.

The springs fit just fine the axle does not have the holes for the lever shocks so at least I got me some good springs.

Hello, My name is Bryan and my family was a Crosley car dealer back in the day.  We currently still own and run the same company but it has evolved over the years into a lawn and garden equipment dealer.  We are celebrating over 100 years in business and having our annual Christmas employee party at the The Crosley Estate off Kipling Road, in Cincinnati OH and would love to showcase a couple cars to display our past.  Is there anyone in your organization that would be interested in displaying a couple cars on Dec. 7th in the evening, in return we would be interested in making a donation to your organization.

Re: Crosley sun shade.........any pictures of one ?

I took the sun visor pic, put it in an email, and voomed it until it was almost blurry. The brackets appear to be a simple angle bracket attached to the Masonite, with a rod bent to a 90. The clamp holding it to the car drip rail looks similar to the clamp that holds the outside rear view mirror.
If you want to build one, a 2x4 sheet of tempered masonite is at Home Depot for just over $4, the angle bracket and rod are an easy build. The clamp holding it to the drip rail can be made with a little trial and error fabrication. Unless someone has an up close pic of an original mounting bracket, it's all guess work as to how they built theirs. Good luck

Re: Crosley sun shade.........any pictures of one ?

Here are pictures of my plastic visor. It looks like it  mounts with 2 screws on each side and 4 in the middle above the windshield. The side mounts may be part of a clamping mount with parts missing. The center is adjustable for the angle you want/need when mounting.

. RE: Sun visor

I have one on my 52 red convertible. I got it with the car, so have no idea where it was procured. It is in a museum in Auburn, Indiana. You're welcome to go there and take pictures if you want ( I live in Texas). Call me for more information if you like.

I got word from Elaine, Bill's wife, that Bill has finally turned a corner and is improving from a long health battle he has been fighting since June. Still has a ways to go before he can return home but is improving everyday. He is at the Community Living Center Lyons, NJ for physical therapy, if you are close enough he is up for having visitors.

He would love to get cards and notes from his Crosley friend's. Elaine suggests sending to the house and she will take them in so they are sure to get to him.

It also appears that it has a center support rod that is clamped to the divider bar chrome in the center of the w/shield.
