Crosley radio?

Joe Brownsberger

I pulled this out of my 49 wagon. Is this a crosley radio? I'm only confused because there is a speaker built in but my dash has place for a speaker right next to it.

Doesn't look like anything I have ever seen in a Crosley.

All the variations I know of are on the club web site. http://crosleyautoclub.com/Car_Radios/Radios.html

Bob Hickman of AZ Has Passed

Jim Bollman

I was just notified that long time Crosley enthusiast Bob Hickman died on July 30th. Many will remember his extensive model collection that included many hand crafted Crosley models.

Here is his obituary.

Robert (Bob) Warren Hickman, Jr.
Phoenix, AZ - Robert (Bob) Warren Hickman, Jr., 74, finished his life's journey in Phoenix, Arizona on July 30, 2018. Born in Paoli, Indiana, at the age of 2, his parents, Robert Warren, Sr. and Mary Etta (McCabe) Hickman, moved the family to Muncie. As an adult, he moved around the country. He lived in Pennsylvania and Missouri before settling in Phoenix.
Bob spent his life legally blind until becoming totally blind five years ago. He was an antique car enthusiast, traveling and accumulating friends across the United States, in pursuit of his passion.
He is survived by his siblings, Bonnie (Ronald) Stouder, Muncie, William Hickman, Indianapolis, and Ruth Ann Berkey, Muncie. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to thank his Phoenix family, Monica Cooper, John and Faith Arvigu, and Mark and Carey-Linda Connolly, for caring and helping Bob over the years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Diana, his parents, and his sisters, Emma (Bob) Craig, and Alice (Jimmy) Hinderer.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Church of God - Full Gospel, 4013 West 30th Street, Muncie, from 1-3pm with Pastor Dwayne Murray officiating. The weekly service will follow at 3pm and all are invited to attend. Bob also enjoyed attending the Fellowship Baptist Church when visiting Muncie.
Memorial contributions can be made in Bob's memory to his church, Northwest Baptist Church, 6701 North 43rd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85019.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Elm Ridge Funeral Home.

I was lucky enough to have visited Bob in Phoenix a few years ago, a really dedicated "car guy". He sent a few models to the Crosley nationals a while back, we have published some pictures of his cars, full size and models in the Quarterly.

Good news if that does the trick!

I was going to ask if by some chance you had one of the factory restrictor plates they shipped on new cars in there. It was a long, long shot. :^)

Have fun, Jeff!

I have a big bundle of them along with the factory tamper proof wire seal.  Wire seals have been cut of course.

These photos are a tin block, and you probably have a cast iron block... but it sure is purty when the paint is fresh and the decals are crisp! This was an attempt to replicate the paint remnants on a low-mileage engine taken off the road in 1951.

Thank you this will eventually help me down the road when I'm ready to put my car back together then. Now I have complete detailed pictures I can reference!

Dip stick pops out

jane altman

When we rev the engineer to see where the oil leak is coming from, the dip stick is popping up and down!  Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jane

Hey!  If this project ends up happening, my mechanic accidentally broke the left knob. I'd love to get another.  Also, let me know if you need my radio to help this progress.  Right now it is pulled and boxeb to be sent out for rehab

Re: Dip stick pops out

Your engineer is aroused?  Piston ring blow by could be pressurizing the crankcase, check oil level and oil fill breather cap. If the dipstick is really loose, add a spring or dipstick tube grommet so you don't loose it.

Ok.Jane we will keep you in mind.   Still don't have a front to use.  Thanks to Ken Cahill we got a set of knobs.  For now working from the radio I took out of one of my cars as a pattern

Sorry for not responding sooner, but been getting the last camping trip in before I put the camper to sleep.
Thanks for the pics guys, these will help. I hope to have the car ready for the nationals, as it will be quite different than a normal paint job.
Spock, I went back through the 2013 shows, and there were very few, in engine compartment, close enough to see detail, pictures. There were alot of open hood pics, just not close enough for details.
