with that information.

New Crosley speed honor

X779@...

Well, I checked the Microcars list, and all of you in the CAC probably
know this already through the publication, but Crosley has now beaten
out the '80s and '90s former champion Honda 600 for the title of World
Speed Champion, J/Pro Class (cars with 750cc engines).

The winner and new champion is a 1946 Crosley sedan owned by Gerald
Davenport, which set the record with 92.337 mph. I understand the judges
had to verify the results by disassembling the engine and mikeing the
cylinders to check displacement, which verified the victory.

Congratulations to Gerald, and to all in the Crosley community! Saluté
a'tutti!

Regards....
Lou

It's going to take a while to get used to this new Group stuff, isn't
it? I posted some progress pictures of my Crosley in the CC folder.

Photo Sizes - Keep them Small

"Jim_Bollman" <Jim@...>

Please keep the size of the photos you upload as small as possible. Most pictures will look fine when compressed to 50 kbytes or less when they are 640X480 or smaller. We are limited to 30 Megs of photo space and that will fill up fast if we don't watch the sizes. The other benefit of compressing the files a little more is faster downloads for those of us on dial up lines.

I have dozens of Crosley articles, and some original literature, but
none of them tell the WEIGHT of a 47 pickup. They give the weight of
a conv.,sedan and sw. but not the pickup. I am sure someone will
know. Thanks - John

Well if anyone is interested I have some of the tape from Mr.
Davenport running at the flats. A friend of mine was there and took
the video for me. It is pretty neat to listen to it run and such.

Crosley for sale ...

X779@...

... with an original COBRA engine, which runs great, although the COBRAs
are a bit noisier than the CIBAs. I think if you keep lots of anti-rust
and water-pump lubricant in the cooling system, and make extra-positive
to never overheat it or freeze it, it should run indefinitely. But the
seller will include a CIBA engine and transmission, and extra parts.

It's an older body-off-restoration heated-garage-kept 1947 CC-47 sedan
with radio. Paint scheme is a two-tone green/brown. Chrome parts and
upholstery were all re-done. It's a turnkey car.

Seller Al Goll is asking $5K. The car is at
Strip-Rite, 103 200th Avenue (US 45), Union Grove WI 53182. (262)
878-5342. FAX: (262) 878-0400.

Mention my name if you like.

Group Survival Tips

"Jim_Bollman" <Jim@...>

A few tips I have learned to make Groups easier to take.

You can setup your membership to mail you the messages instead of reading them off the board. This can be individual messages or a daily digest of messages (No Ads)

You can answer or post messages by sending eMail to
Crosley_Gang@... (No Ads)

If you want to read the messages online, go to the message page and click on Expand Messages. This shows you multiple messages at the same time with minimal ads.

For Photo viewing - Go to the photo page and click on List on the left side. The default sort on the list mode seems to be in order of the last item loaded with the newest items at the bottom. You can look at the Last Modified date to see if anything has been added since you looked the last time.

The Chat window seems to take up more space with stuff we don't need than the old club chat room, so make your browser window as big as possible before starting the chat session. This should give you a better viewing area. On my computer if I resize after starting chat it has to restart the chat software and I loose my connection to the chat server.

You can customize your chat session in the preference dialog, it is one of the icons at the bottom of the chat window above where you type messages. Set the auto-away to a large number like 70 minutes.

If any of you found other good tips please pass them on.

Car Database

"Jim_Bollman" <Jim@...>

I have created a Database (click on the Database link on the left) for members of this Group to share the Crosleys and related makes with the rest of the board. Fill in as much of the information as you feel comfortable sharing.

This will help members share info with others with similar cars.

If you have ideas for other databases or additional columns let me know.

I found this deal at Richard's Tires:
Four Carlisle 5.30x12 4-ply USA Trail tires delivered for about $120.00.
Your delivery cost may be higher or lower depending on distance.

These are the handsome tires we talked about, with traditional
sidewalls. I'm buying a set for my CC-48 station wagon.

Remember, don't use these on two-cylinder Crosleys. Use only Coker's
4.50x12s or get Richard's price for Carlisle load-range-B 4.80x12 tires.

Richard's Tires: (toll-free) (816) 455-4029

Regards....
Lou

Still Hope for the Old Club Migration

I just read on another group that YaHell is still working on getting
stuck conversions unstuck. One club that was stuck for 39 days just
made it through. Ours has been stuck for around 3 weeks now.
