I'd love to get my hands on a large distributor because it would be easier to get my fingers into it!!

Re: CD windshield install

Has anyone had a new windshield installation the proved to not be water tight? Is there something I can do besides keeping it indoors and taking more care in rinsing the car? NOTE: we did not apply any sealant,  the GOJO he used as a lubricant and thought would work as a sealant as well clearly didn't. (See previous comments from me in this thread.)

There is also the Windshield installation thread on Facebook that Tim Hamblen started and I added a comment therein, but I wanted to bring this particular question over to the Crosley Gang site so that I was sure I could find it later.

Brief Recap: We had our replacement windshield installed by a professional glass installer who works on classic cars. We tried unsuccessfully to do it ourselves. My previous comments in this thread outline his approach. He did not source the glass or cut it. Until it cracks again or we decide on a compete restore, we hope not to remove and replace.

A great choice, Jim. I admire how you Farm-O-Road owners have nicely restored vehicles that still go to town.

Is there anyone that can clarify some information about the small and large distributors.
Are they interchangeable, and is there any advantage to using either a large or small one if they are interchangeable?
I have wondered about this, and it seemed relevant to this conversation.

Crosley used two different distributors a Small Distributor - Auto Lite UGW-4181-C and a Large Distributor - Auto Lite IAD-40038 3F.

If I understand what you are looking for.

Crosley used two different distributors a Small Distributor - Auto Lite UGW-4181-C and a Large Distributor - Auto Lite IAD-40038 3F. There were also a couple of magnetos also used for military use and are intended for a constant speed, one is belt driven the other goes in the same hole as the distributor. After market racing magnetos were offered by a couple of companies, expensive and hard to find.

I don't know of any other compatible distributors. You can get a replacement distributor from one of our Crosley parts suppliers like Service Motors, Dave Edwards, or Yankee Crosley. http://crosleyautoclub.com/PartsSuppliers.html

Re: Running on Three Cylinders

One good way is, with the piston down in the cylinder, stuff the cylinder full of rope (about 1/4 to 5/16" diameter) then rotatge the crankshaft until it stops.

Then proceed as normal.
