Peter,

Pictures and serial number would be a good start. There are some hard to find parts that if they are missing will drive down the cost. What kind of brakes does it have. I have found that a lot of 51-52 Hot Shots have turned in to Super Sports or 49-50. That's why the serial number and brake question.

Re: Voltage regulator ??and problems

"crosley19" <CROSLEY19@...>

clean the area around the generator terminals. One will be marked F,
and the other A. The voltage regulator will be marked on the post
where the wires fasten to. One is marked F(field), one A(armature),
and one B (battery). Connect the field terminal of the gen to the
fielf to the field terminal of the voltage regulator, connect the
armature terminal of the gen to the armature terminal of the voltage
regulator. Connect the battery terminal of the voltage regulator to
the constant hot terminal of the starter solenoid (the big terminal
that goes to the negative battery terminal) Now you must POLARIZE the
generator ( this is to tell the generator which terminal on the
battery is hooked to ground. To do this take a small piece of wire
and jump the battery, and armature terminals of the voltage regulator
for a split second!! If the generator and voltage regulator are good
it should charge. You may want to try and polarize the voltage
regulator you already have on the car, as this may start it working
again. Alot of times when the battery is removed from the car the
voltage regulator will forget it's polarity, and you will have to
polarize it again. Hope this helps you.

1952 Hot Shot

My brother inherited a 1951 Crosley Hot Shot a few years back, and
had all the intensions in the world of restoring it. Now, after
partially dismantling it and doing some misc repair work he's
interested in selling. It's complete, it does run, and its not rusty
or damaged. But it needs everything.

Anyone have a clue as to it's value?

Peter

--Jim, I have a spare large generator and matching water pump, it
sounds like I should change to the Voltage regulator on the firewall
for any kind of reliability. Where could I find a color and wiring
diagram for this regulator. It looks like only 3 wires on the
firewall regulator, but I need a wiring diagram. Thanks -

Voltage regulator ??and problems

"mcriverbug" <mcriverbug@...>

I have an early 47 with the voltage regulator mounted on the inner
passenger fender. It is about 2x3 inches, one set of points that spark
when I push them closed with the motor running. There is a wire
coming off the generator to the regulator then out of regulator to
the wiring harness. The engine has the small generator. Is this the
proper regulator,if so how can I troubleshoot the not charging
problem. Every car picture I see with the hood open seems to have the
regulator mounted on the firewall,my car does not and there are no
telltale holes in the firewall from ever having been mounted there.
Any suggestions where I can find wiring diagrams for the regulator
and charging system. All other wiring on the car works fine. Thanks -
John

Sorry Lou I have attachments turned off on the Group because of problems I have seen in other groups with large attachments being sent without realizing it. If you were sending the Sebring story that you sent me a while back, I combined two stories I had plus some info I looked up when the two disagreed and posted it with pictures on our main web site.

Jim...

I sent this in to the old group a year and a half ago, on the Golden
Anniversary of the race, and I thought you might enjoy reading it again.

FWIW.......I do not think this site should be used for the ebay
auction site photo posting. 1 or 2 photos at most of a workable size
at most if such useage is allowed.

Links to photos on yahoo/geocities did not work in the past, has that
changed?

This is how computer newbies learn though. been there myself.

Anyone else have an opinion on using club space for eBay auction

In the mean time please compress your photos more and reduce the
total number of shots of the same vehicle to maybe 6 or so please.

I am having difficulty uploading photos to Ebay. I have an option

choose another URL to link the photos.

My question: Is the "Photo" link on the Crosley_Gang group for just
members, or can anyone view them? If you don't need to be a

would like to link my truck auction to a folder with my photos in
it.
Is this proper?

Fuel pumps!

"mrcooby" <x779@...>

I see our membership here is now up to eighty. Great!

I want to ask about fuel pumps. Here we have reformulated fuel, with 10% grain alcohol. Rough on older pump diaphragms, so I'm having mine all redone with alcohol-resistant material.

But there's a quirk with Crosley fuel pump arms. What works on one Crosley may or may not work on another. It's related to where the arm rides on the cam. I heard there should be a built-up flat spot on the arm at that point. Some owners weld a shim onto the arm. I pulled two pumps off today; one has the shim, one does not.

What's your experience out there on this?

Thanks!

then they loaded fine on ebay.Look at the help section on ebay, and
follow their instructions.Good luck!

Re: Photos on Yahoo! Groups / Ebay

Two problems. You loaded 15 photos of your pickup 100-230 kbytes each that uses almost 10 percent of our total space allocation for one vehicle. For the size images you uploaded they can be compressed to around 25-30 Kbytes each and still view fine.

There are other photo sites that you can use for eBay auctions. My opinion is that our site should not be used for eBay auction pictures. I seem to remember Yahoo not allowing it but I couldn't find the rule. Currently I believe I have photo viewing open to anyone, this can change if necessary.

If these V shaped boxes are about the size of a shoe box lid then they are
the original defroster outlets for the early Crosley. These connected
directly to the underside of the dash openings. The other end then connected
to the hoses from the heater. Later models used a metal outlet.

you have heard that when something sounds to good to
be true, it probably isn't. such is the case on the
headliner kit. I rechecked my notes and saw that I was
in error the actual cost was $225 not $125. Sorry.
The quality by what I know is very good.I have a
problem in that the front half of the headliner had
the side panels sewn on in reverse but, they will
correct that for me at their expense. They are good
people to deal with.
