I got the little motor running after a 25 year napI just went a head and replaced... plugs and wires..points condenser and cap, Solenoid and coil
This way I know all is new
Got it to start charging yesterday!
Only flaw is the side cover on the left side of the engine has bad rust and is seeping some water
Does anyone have a good spare for sale?
Looks like just a flat piece of metal with holes?........should I just make one?
I'll also clean out the rust around the clynders when I get it apart...(after seeing pictures of how it looks)
Lube stuff today
Thanks for any help

I'm thinking about buying these seats for my 1948 Crosley Wagon
The height and with seem to be close..and look similar to the Stock seats
https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-100188587I'll use the stock "Tilt Up" bottom seat frames and modify (my Stock seats are now just springs)
I can always buy stock seats down the road since the floor brackets will be the same
I plan on keeping the engine and everything else "Stock"
What does everyone think?
I can't buy the material and have my stock seats done for $100 bucks

Someone mentioned using a 12 volt coil with a ballast resistor, that is a double no! The 12 volt coil already has too much resistance. The ballast resistor, which is used to add resistance to the circuit as it heats up, to save the points, will pretty much eliminate any spark at all.
A chick point cleaning is always in order. They make (but are getting increasingly difficult to find) a special "point file", which is thin, hard and fine cut. If you're going to mess with old, point ignition cars, get one, preferably, two. Keep one in a plastic zip lock bag in the glove box, the other one in a zip lock in your tune up tool box.
Keeping them clean is imperative, otherwise you are deeply contaminating your points as you clean them.
After a couple of strokes, a quick follow up with a business or index card, to clean any fine residue is also a good idea.
I find that doing the cleaning with the points closed, and adding a bit of finger pressure to increase the tension, makes very quick work of the task.
Butch
Well
After buying a new battery, changing oil and filter, cleaning out Carb, cleaning points and plugs
the old girl wanted to start, but....... no luck today
She hasn't ran in 20 years
I did jump the coil to the battery
It seems the points and plugs are getting very little 'Spark"
So off to order plugs, cap, rotor condenser and wires
What brand and number plug number is everybody using?Do you make your own plug wires or order a set?.....off a tractor or something?
I'll try this first and if not a hot enough Spark, Ill buy a coil
Does it have to be a special 6 volt coil for Positive ground?
The solenoid was also sometimes working.....Does a new solenoid need to be 6volt positive ground? Thanks for all the help

I'm new to the world of Crosley so please forgive my ignorance. I'm going to have to put new tires on my 51 Crosley before I tow it home. It will be towed on a trailer. I've seen some recommendations for Carlisle USA Trail 5.30-12 tires and some 4.80-12 tires that Tony sells. Are these trailer tires and are they safe on an automobile. I've also read some warning about using radial tires because of steering and differential issues. Does the differential work like a modern differential around corners? Thanks for your help. BTW, my intent with this vehicle is to stay as close to original as possible.
