Re: Clutch chatter
Sounds like it could be a leaking rear crank seal. Oil on the clutch. I just replaced both front and rear seals. Same problem. Be sure though, the engine needs to come out, and the bottom end removed.

Patrick, Usually a chatter is experienced in 1st gear or reverse. Typically 2nd and 3rd smooth out. You may need to adjust the throw-out bearing out or in a bit, also be sure your idle setting is not

Several possibilities, the clutch being one of them but a lot of the time it is bad/weak motor and transmission mounts. Soft mounts let the engine rock more than it should changing the carburetor and

Clutch chatter
The first nice day and I took my 52’ wagon for a drive. For awhile the clutch would chatter in reverse. I would just push the car back into the garage so not a big deal. During this drive the clutch

I have some stuff that needs to be gone from my workshop: blocks and cranks. The problem is that they are likely not worth the costs of shipping. Six blocks, all rusty (surface rust), 3 flat tops,

Re: Fageol 44 Boat Engine Rear Main Oil Seal
Seb, I took your advice and the Fageol 44 runs great! No rear main seal leaks, perfect. I drilled two holes at 45 degree angles for each half-ring, then tapped the holes for short 6-32 screws.

Jim,
The gear or the distributor itself?
The gear is just a snug, slip fit, with a drive key splined into it. Once all of the retaining nut(s) are off, it SHOULD just pull off. If

Re: HotShot emblem location measurements
The Super I did last year is as follows. The center of the word runs parallel to the seam with the cowl 3 1/2" down from the seam. The word starts (or ends depending on what side you are on) 2 3/4

Re: Distributor drive gear
Once you remove the drive gear from the bottom, be sure you have loosened the clamp for holding the distributor from turning after timing. Then pull straight up.

Distributor drive gear
Newbie here with what might be a stupid question. What is the best way to remove the distributor gear? Oil pan off as well as the retainer nut. Can't seem to just lift off so lever with a tool? Gear

Re: HotShot emblem location measurements
Mike,
I have some for a SS I can send you if that helps. I took them a few years back for the antenna placement but the Super emblem is in the pics too.
