I doubt there ever was one.Looking at some of the old pictures I'd say they rolled the bows up inside the top when off.

Re: Restoration tips for beginners

Jim Bollman

As I am putting together my Crosley Garage column for the Summer Quarterly, I am getting low on Restoration Tips again, I may have enough for Fall Column. So if you have additional Tips just reply to this message and it will be added to the sticky thread at the top of the Crosley-Gang Page for easy reference.

For those that are not members of the Brick & Mortar club I have had a column in the Crosley Auto Club Quarterly magazine for many years that is made up from questions and answers from Crosley-Gang that I think would be useful to members that don't do computers or want their info in hard print. I don't use names, just initials or first names, so don't be bashful. Gabriel suggested the idea of restoration tips for the beginner and I have added them as part of my column. The tips so far have been good for old timers as well as beginners and I thank all that have contributed so far.

More Tips Please.

If you have the bows, any good upholstery shop can make one for you.    .....Jim.

The top bows just naturally lay back. It is best to un-snap the top and stow it in the "trunk" when the top is down, otherwise it will catch air and blow around.

The light to the left and high of the gauge cluster is the turn signal indicator. The high beam light is at the very top of the speedometer - unless someone has replaced the speedo with an earlier CC one.

The SS I had back in 80s had the green jewel light for turn signal also. Not completely relevant but the FarmOroad also uses a green jewel light for signal lights.

Did a 1952 VC have a turn indicator light? Where is it located? Color of light?

Thanks for any info.

I have seen T emblems with holes for small flat head screws and straight studs for push nuts, never saw threaded studs. Not sure if it was just a matter of what supplier they used or one style is older than the other.

My 48 wagon rear emblem was attached with small slotted flat-headed brass screes with a lock washer and small brass hex nut. They looked original. It would probably look better to use chrome or stainless.

Re: 1948 Pick-Up Emblems

Michael,  The original crosses would have threaded post and use tiny washers and nuts (not sure of the exact size) to hold them tight. Some re-makes will have non-threaded post, those will use what I call a flat push on nut or a speed nut. You will need to experiment with the size.  Jeffrey

I believe the Hotshot tie rods are different from a wagon.
