Re: 48 CC Pick Up with crappy brakes
You need to get the drums and shoes to a brake shop and have the drums turned and the shoes arc ground to match.

Re: Marine crosley engine
Butch
Yes, that is one of the best crankshafts to build a high performance Crosley engine with.

Re: 1951 VC Super
Steve Olinger
Hi Dennis,
My 51 Supersport is pretty well org. I have attached photos of the door rubber at the back and bottom of my doors which I feel is original. Its the reg Crosley style weatherstrip as used on the sedans & sw. The rubber goes on the doors not the body. The is a flat rubber seal on the front but mine is very deteriorated. Steve

That metal sill is 1 and 1/4 inch wide by 1/2 inch thick and 31 inches long. With 5 pan head inset bolts.

Dennis, it is a metal sill with inset screws. You could make them up out of stock aluminum bar stock from tractor supply.

Thanks! That is what I needed! Is that a piece of wood across the door sill? I would never have thought of that! Is it anything special? That will be an easier fix than I thought if indeed it is wood. I think I might have missed the picture earlier, but thank you for it! Thanks: Dennis

Sorry no extra parts. Try our vendor list. The top 3 on the list have a lot of parts that are not on their parts list.

I have a brake re-lining shop "Turn" my drums, and match the linings to them. I don't have my '47 PU on the road yet, so no comment on performance. Mine are mechanical UG !!! .....Jim.

Jim, I'm missing everything but the "T" piece in the back and the pull handle. Do you have any extra stuff. I can't see how the calipers get activated. None of those parts either. .....Jim. PS. The pictures are GREAT, thanks so much.

48 CC Pick Up with crappy brakes
Michael Braun
My 48 Pick Up’s brakes were done by a prior owner. The car has the hydraulic brakes. Braking on this vehicle sucks and I can’t drive this thing in traffic. I believe I have identified the problem as the brake shoe’s surface is uneven and does not match the drum As a result very little of the brake shoe surface actually engages the drum. I read an article that said to use “stick-on” sand paper inside the drum. As you rotate the drum the sandpaper cuts down the high spots on the shoe. I am in the process of doing this now and it appears to be working. My question for the group is the size of the shoes. The shoes on my pick up are 1” wide while the drum surface is almost 2”. Do I have the correct shoes on the vehicle??

Re: 1950 HOTSHOT
Not sure these pictures will help much. They are in the in the restoration folder of the message board photo section.

Photo is a little confusing because it shows several E brake changes, less confusing in person. These brake displays are shown at Nationals every year. Maybe somebody with an actual car installation will crawl under and snap some photos. Jim...

Yes, a cable runs off the end of that t- handle and then actuates a metal lever/bar, near the back of the transmission, then would have a cable and adjuster "horshoe" running the cable to both rear brakes.
