I’m in south central PA. From what I’m told it’s the rear hydraulics and the front mower transmissions and mounting bar but I do not have the mower deck that we’ve come across yet. I will get more pictures this weekend. And I will post them then.

Steve, I am possible interested but can't get the pictures to open.  I have 4 Farm-O-Roads and some equipment but am missing some pieces.  Can you send them to me again?  I have the front mount and pto for the mower but no deck and transmissions.   Where are you located?  I am in Eastern NC.  Thanks.

I have a couple parts for a farm-o-road attachment?  Not sure what exactly they are for or if complete been sitting outside for a while, but before they get lost was wondering if anyone could identify or had interest in them. I do know that one part not pictured is a three head mower deck set of transmissions.

You have what appears to be the rear shaft for the hydraulic system/draw bar and the front lift system for the front mower.  The answer is yes, they have value, and yes, there are people who would want to buy them.  Where are you?  your best bet might be to get a member in your area to come and look at what you have.

I use a battery tender on my cars all the time. You will be just fine with it in the car connected.

While my sending unit ground problem persists, may I still use a Battery Tender on the car? (I'm only just learning about electrical systems on older cars and all the first chapters of my resources emphasize safety, as they should.)

Alternatively, I'll can take the battery out of the car, but would prefer not too.

Just disconnect the ground at the battery when you work on anything electrical.      ................Jim.

Okay. I have a plan. These comments and the photos provided help me a lot. Next steps:  Get better access. Study how it moves. Clean. Reattach the cable.
Dennis, yours looks the most like mine and it is interesting to me that your latch doesn't appear to have that extra little wire/hook-like thing (partial spring?), which on mine looks broken; and perhaps has been for a long time. I need to establish if it's important. Since my photo was also take with a phone jammed between card boards I need to start removing parts to get better access. When I get this fixed I'll remember to take a good photo before closing up. Thank you everyone!

If you want to err to the super safe side, keep the tender on the battery but disconnect at least one if not both of the terminals from the car.

Paula,
You gave me a reason to “unwrap” my ‘47 coupe.  I squeezed my iPhone between the cardboards and here are some photos I took. notice the setscrew the wires do of the cable goes into.  Your cable looks like it may have popped out.

My hand hood cable for the 1947 Sedan just came loose. Attached is a photo of my current situation.
I can see where I should re-thread the cable, but it seems there is more? There's that little broken wire for example.

I need help understanding what it's supposed to look like and what parts I may need that are missing.

Don Pitchford

Paula,
Thanks for the information. I figure I will need to order at least 1 or 2 new sending units since one fell apart when I removed it and another has never worked since I got the car many years ago. When I get a new one I'll measure the resistance. My main reason for wanting to know the value is that I build a lot of "test fixtures" so I can isolate problems as quickly as possible.
Thanks, Don Pitchford

Don - In case you want to try yet another fuel sending unit, we got our fuel tank sending unit from Service Motors. It worked right away until this (hopefully) grounding problem. I never inquired about the resistance of the wires, however. Dale at Service Motors may be able to tell you.

Perhaps this photo will help. I would first recommend using some solvent to clean up the assembly.

I didn't know how to add this photo to my previous post, but here's the excerpt from the manual.
Without a diagram I'm not clear on what it's supposed to look like and what is missing. ()I now believe that little hooked wire must be the end of a broken spring, although I'm not clear what kind of spring or where it must attach.)
