Hi -

I’m interested in purchasing a Crosley Super Sports and hope that someone may have one for sale or know of someone that may be selling. My first ride in a classic car was a Crosley CC at the Greenfield Village Motor Muster car show. From that moment onward, I have wanted to own one. I just recently completed graduate school and finally have the time for one!

If you have any leads, please let me know.

I can only assume that this VC didn’t reach its potential because of being misnamed.

That's interesting. I always wondered how it would be to fly down the highway on a Gasporter at 45 mph.The answer is you can't.

Camshaft Markings

Jim Bollman

I got a question today I didn't know the answer. A fellow acquired an engine with a cam that has etched on the back of the gear "281 us thermo".  My only guess is maybe it was from a ThermoKing version of the Crosley engine and it had a different cam for some reason.

I have never seen this on a cam, anyone have any suggestion of what he has.

Back when we had bearings made (we owned Service Motors at the time), we had them made all the way down to 0.040.

The wrong way can also when hitting a big bump, drive the whole drive train forward, breaking motor mounts and running the fan into the radiator.

Thanks to all who explained that the shackle configuration in my photo is correct.   Since I am moving in a couple months I am trying to complete the restoration of a Gasporter so I can sell it before I move.

As in the picture. The other way stresses the springs and shackles. We've all seen them the wrong way and it just looks goofy.

Guys, I have the bottom end open on my '47 motor. I need help with the following:
  • Crank mains are scored. Are there oversize main bearings available? If so I can turn the crank.
  • Do any of you have a standard crank and bearings for sale.
  • Do any of you have a good core long block or complete motor for sale.
I'm doing a body off restoration of the truck, and want everything as good as possible. Located in Orange County CA.    Liberty Motorsports    libertymotorsports365.net.        Jim.
