You are a lifesaver. The first picture is my exact set up. I could not figure how the 2 springs were set up.    ...........Thanks, Jim.

I've attached photos that may help.  NOTE, only one photo is mine. Others were taken by other members and I believe I pulled them from this message board. I download several when we were working on the brakes, so you may wish to poke around a bit more under "brakes" to see more threads.

The one with dirt and the 3Ton lift is my car (47 Sedan) before we replaced the brake shoes and cleaned it up a bit. Even with mine we had to work with Service Motors a bit to get correct ones since our front and rear were exactly the same.
I'll stop there since the real expertise must come from others.

Re: Gasporter Linkage

There are on bunch of pictures in the Photo Album section under Restoration Tips. Search for brakes if this link doesn’t work. Not sure if they will tell you both what you need to know.

If these pictures don’t help I will see what I can dig out of my photo files. The club has a display of brake systems at the Nationals every year and I have some pictures of those displays.

I assume when you said sliding clutch bar you mean sliding brake bar? I think during the vintage of the Gasporter they had a cable clutch in the cars.

Hello everyone.   I am now restoring a Gasporter and the mechanical brake and clutch cable linkages have been modified/changed over the years.   Anyone have a photo or drawing of the correct original setup?  I am not sure how the sliding clutch bar is supposed to work.

Thanks,

Jeff

Could someone send me pictures of how the return springs fit '47 mechanical brake shoes.    .....Jim.

Re: Tyrone Mount's Wife Jill Passed Away

Although I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Tyrone or his wife, we will certainly keep their family in our prayers during this time.

I am new to Crosley. I am doing a body-off restoration of a '47 PU. I'd live to see pictures of this set up also.    .....Jim.

Sorry David but you need to refresh my memory. My 74 year old brain is not what it used to be.

Thank you,

I think the lever Denny is talking about is for the hydraulic pump, a cast part.  I have made the high/lo and in/out levers for the transfer case.  Have one set left.

That would be Dale Fredrick, on the between seat levers.  On the little one in front of the seat , I dont know of anyone making them.

Crosley in older Calendar

Mike S

While going thru some old files from my working career, found this calendar that one of my suppliers had given me back in 2011.  The September car was a yellow '48 station wagon.  Says the owner is/was Mike R Smith.  I don't see the name in the roster.  Anyone know if the car or the owner are still around?

Ok, I get it. Had to look up PEMDAS. It's not how I was taught many years ago. But I guess it shows my decades. Thank You for setting me straight.

I tip my hat to the math teacher. In my discipline equations are - let’s call it “over defined” to leave nothing that could be misinterpreted. I do take exception however,  to any expression that has 3 equal signs in it.

You beat me Kap. Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally . I agree.

From Kap: “ Hey guys didn’t you learn PEMDAS in school?”
Kap taught math for 54 years the answer given is correct!
