Bob, I think a picture or 2 is a good start . One of the car overall, engine compartment, and interior including the dash would be a good start. Location is important and anything you know about running condition. Quite often parts, titles, etc were swapped on these cars. To your question, yes there were several makers of dual intakes.

I just got a 42 Crosley from a friend who is dying…it has the 4 cylinder later engine…my mechanic said it had 2 carbs…did anyone besides Braje make a two carb intake for them? I want to sell it..don’t know how this site works.

Well, although the Tin Blocks, were probably not designed to be
bored, I know that they can be, kind of.
I bored one, my first and last! Since the cylinders are steel, rather that cast iron, the cuttings come out as long steel strings rather than the dusty chips like cast iron. That makes it very hard to get a good cut. Also, the liners are pretty thin, so they do flex some under the cutter pressure. Finally, they don't hone out worth diddly. VERY hard on stones, trying to get/maintain good geometry and obtain a good wall finish. Overall, a bad idea! Butch On 12/15/2018 11:15 AM, seb fontana via

Only thing definite is Crosley motor and I'll be looking for a builder next year. Probably 4-speed transmission.It has the Topolino differential which was driven by a torque tube like Crosley but I also have a Crosley disc brake rear end on the way. The final specs will be determined by SVRA and 1960's SCCA rule books.

Some clues in both directions especially the work on the grill and its fitment. Not sure there's a chance of getting much history/ The hot rod idea is fun but right no it's headed to be a race car.

You're right... and my bad! The seller has had the project for 6 years and thought ne might convert it to Spridget so he collected some parts over the years and stored them in the footwell. They don't come with the car. He reported that there was a full race Crosley engine in the estate seperate from the car deal and he went back the next day but it was sold and gone. So I'm pretty sure this was started in the Fiat/Crosley mode like Nardi, Stanguellini, Bandini etc.

The carbs appear to be "HS2" SUs (2x 1.25") off a British 1275cc Sprite or Midget. H1 are 1.125 inch used on the smaller 948cc engine and would be a more likely candidate in my opinion if a Crosley motor will be the power unit.

Help identifying new project
I just (12/2018) acquired a 50’s special project built on a Fiat Topolino chassis. I bought it out of Colorado and the seller has had it for 6 years and bought it from the estate of a collector who brought it to Colorado six years before that. Neither had done any work or research on it and nothing is known of its history. I’m pretty sure it was meant to be an H Modified (comes with Crosley block). And I’m suspicious that it was finished and driveable at some point. I’m just starting to plan it’s completion and would love to learn how best to discover it’s original construct.
